Google is slowly killing youtube, which they purchased.

I don't see the problem in the whole youtube/google+ thing. Can you explain?
#76 to #74 - happyunicorn (11/11/2013) [-]
Its bad.
#77 to #76 - invadingaliens (11/11/2013) [-]
How is it bad? Is it just that you don't like changes?
#78 to #77 - happyunicorn (11/11/2013) [-]
I have no idea what's wrong with it.

People are just being autistic and anal because of a small change. Literally all I had to do was type in a name and I could just go on with my comment-business as usual.

I think you might be right, I don't have a problem with it either.

reasons why YT sucks even more every time I wanna use it:
A few months ago, everyone got pup-ups asking if they wanted to use their real name. Back then you could still decline the offer.
Then, one day, google added another page to that offer, asking if you want to make a google+ account, and link it to your YT account. You could still decline but it was a bit harder, and frased in such a way that you wouldn't actually be "declining" the offer, but just "postphoning" your decision.
About 2-3 months ago, the offer about Google+ was changed to: "we're somewhat forcing you to make a google+ account, and using your real name.". This time, there was no button to decline, and hitting X would make the offer re-appear every day (now changed to: every time you reload the page)

Right now, over 20% of the users can't see the comments because they didn't want to use their real name or make google+., over 50% can't comment at all (including the 20 i mentioned earlier), because of the same reasons, and for some reason you can't reply to old comments. If the standard for "old" was a few weeks or months, it wouldn't be a problem. But right now, people upload videos, check the comments a few days later (If they can even SEE them), and try to reply, only to find out that YT doesn't want you to comment to 24h old comments.
Also, a lot of profiles, names etc of users have been changed WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION. The profiles were changed because of some new lay-out, but where we previously had an option not to change our profiles, this time it happened automatically for many users. The names that were changed were because people got sick and tired of the pop-up every time they tried to watch a video, so they agreed to "change their name". However, apparently google didn't mean "changing your name" but "changing your name to YOUR REAL NAME, without giving you an option to change your real name or change back to your old name. More~~

We're being forced to accept googles ****** offer....
#110 to #104 - invadingaliens (11/11/2013) [-]
"Right now, over 20% of the users can't see the comments because they didn't want to use their real name or make google+"

My name didn't really change. I just put my old YT name in the G+ Name field.
User avatar #114 to #110 - nandaaz (11/11/2013) [-]
That;s part of the problem: A lot of people can't choose the name like you did....
When I clicked on "yes, change my account name to my real name", it actually tried changing it to my real name, not giving me any other options.
User avatar #106 to #104 - nandaaz (11/11/2013) [-]
My story continues!

So I was talking about the names that couldn't be changed back, and profiels being changed. It gets worse: Some users agreed to make a google+ account (which google automatically generated for them instead of actually letting them make it). They weren't all that happy about the stuff that happened next to their accounts: Friends on YT were automatically added on google+. This doesn't sound so bad, right? Guess who's wrong! Along with those friends, everyone you commented to in the past few weeks WAS ALSO ADDED ON GOOGLE+ (ofcourse, only if they linked their accounts as well). So that ************ that said your music sucks, or that child that whines about you being a girl/gay/whatever, was now also added on google+, and had access to: your real name, phone number, email, friends, and some other (unimportant) stuff.
But this still isn't the last of googles ****** reign!
People who accidentally made/linked google+ to their accounts, and didn't want to, had some serious bad luck: You can't unlink your account properly. To unlink it you must follow an entire series of steps, and if you're not fond of computers and all that stuff it seems impossible. So many chose to just delete it instead.
This is where the real ******** began!
When deleting your google+ account when it's linked to your YT account, apparently google decides: "Oh, they don't want google+? Well, they can't have YT either then!", and also DELETES YOUR YT ACCOUNT WITH IT.
Some people lost their entire account, some only all of their videos and favorites, and some just lost all of their friends+subscribtions.

So far we have: accounts on google+ being forced on users, forcing you to use your real name and not giving you an option to change it (back), refusing to delete your google+account when you try to delete it, deleting your entire YT account with it, and being unable to comment.

There's still more, but I've reached my character limit again.

About that pop-up asking for your real name+google+ account:
It used to come a few times per month. Then it changed to a few times per week. Then it changed to every day. Now it is several times a day, and for some people (like me) every time you load a video.
Also, how the pop-up asks for your name etc also changed.
First, it was something like "Do you want to use your real name on Youtube? Here is a preview; You can always cancel this and continue what you were doing".
then it became a bit more forcefull: "Do you want to change your name to """"? We'll also make a google+ page for you. If you decline, we'll simply ask you again later.
Now it is: "Change your account name to your real name, we're also going to make a google+ page for you. If you decline, you will be asked again the next time you click on anything on this site. (Also, no decline button anymore, only way to decline is refresh the page over and over until it disappears...)

You needed a G+ account to comment
Everytime you signed in, it asked if you wanted to change your name
They want Youtube to be their social network.
#102 to #101 - invadingaliens (11/11/2013) [-]
Change your name and get it over with, don't be lazy.
I changed my name to Invading Aliens and I don't seem to have any problems.
User avatar #103 to #102 - Johnsfer (11/11/2013) [-]
Among other issues, your inbox doesn't even give you all of your notifications, you needed to go to your G+ account to see all your notifications from Youtube
Even replying was getting difficult, you needed to do some **** I don't even know to reply to some comments.

Buy Facebook so that they don't have to shove G+ down everyone's throat.
That's what this post is suggesting.
"Instead of trying to compete with them and ******* up everything we love, just buy them out and you won't have to be assholes."
User avatar #20 to #15 - ruebezahl (11/11/2013) [-]
But then they'll shove Facebook down everyone's throat. The Youtube comments section will then be merged with Facebook comments.

I don't really see that as much of an improvement.
#71 to #20 - feglol ONLINE (11/11/2013) [-]
The reason they're trying to force google+ is becuase in terms on big name social networks it scrapes the bottom of the barrel, not something google is used to. So they take their mediocre product, put on already successful websites and stamp it as improvements. Something the wouldn't have to do if they bought Facebook, as it is a very successful social network, unlike google+

sorry for the bad spelling, i'm insanely tired.
User avatar #118 to #71 - ruebezahl (11/11/2013) [-]
I think that is only a side effect. The reason why they force Google+ is that they make it more likely to get you to use your real name and they can connect your Google+ activity with your Youtube activity, which means they know more about you - all of the above leads to added advertising revenue.

And Google is ALL about advertising revenue.
User avatar #17 to #15 - deathchain (11/11/2013) [-]

i'm glad people are getting worked up about this.
i really do hope that they get rid of these ******** changes.

by the way, is anyone else having this problem:
so the full screen transition first of all is obnoxious as **** (if you have this problem you will know what i mean) and second of all, spacebar used to always be the pause button, but now it seems to toggle whichever button on youtube i pressed last.
for instance:
if i press fullscreen, spacebar will toggle fullscreen
if i press volume, spacebar will toggle volume
if i pause, spacebar will actually do what it's ******* supposed to and play the video.
User avatar #21 to #14 - ruebezahl (11/11/2013) [-]
The full screen transition is a bit "jumpy" for me, but I can't say if it was like this before. Never paid much attention to it. But yes, I can confirm the space bar issue.

Facebook is fine as long as you keep your friends close and don't associate yourself with the stupid hoes...
I for instance have never had more than 30 facebook friends and haven't had any problems with it.
