The wizard is **** . Setting up a printer to ONE computer is simple.

Printers on a network seem to not give a **** about idiot proofing, and just **** you over completely for no reason.
User avatar #83 to #7 - mans (04/11/2014) [-]
just install adobe reader, everything will turn out great.
User avatar #8 to #7 - zomaru ONLINE (04/10/2014) [-]
I give them the installation disk, and tell them to tell me when the press the sync button. I know 5 year olds who can figure this **** out.
User avatar #9 to #8 - Tusura (04/10/2014) [-]
>implying most printers have a sync button.

Not everything is just press a button and connect.
With XP and earlier, you have to MANUALLY enter the domain of the printer into the network and HOPE the computer recognizes it.
Otherwise you have to completely reinstall your printer drivers.

I'm a PoorFag too.
User avatar #79 to #38 - Tusura (04/11/2014) [-]
You probably have a 6.5Ghz overclocked QUAD core.
This is an Eight core. so effectively it'd be like having 8Ghz quad with no overclocking.
#107 to #79 - BloodyTurds ONLINE (04/11/2014) [-]
8 cores @ 4ghz, does not equate to 4 cores @ 8ghz... just as it does not equate to 1 core at 32ghz.....

Also Intel FTW
User avatar #15 to #11 - Tusura (04/11/2014) [-]
You attempt to make fun of XP, but it is infact the best operating system that Windows has. Windows 7 is decent, 8 sucks, vista sucks.
User avatar #20 to #15 - zomaru ONLINE (04/11/2014) [-]
Explain your reasoning for 7 being worse then XP?
So I can accurately judge how **** your tastes are.
User avatar #24 to #20 - Tusura (04/11/2014) [-]
Windows took a good thing with XP and tried to "optimize" it and made Vista which failed incredibly hard. Windows 7 was their fallback saying it was "what vista was meant to be" while vista is "What XP was meant to be".

XP did not need anything changed GUI wise, which is why they went back in Windows 7, then tried again with windows 8 (Another giant failure).

Windows 7 has a lot of backdoor problems and issues with updates that XP just did not have. It is also extremely slow to load, and has a lot of unneeded files and background programs. XP is a basic model that is easily customized, and is great for networking. Windows 7 can be customized, but not as easily, and with more risk. If you want a truly customized OS use linux

The problem is, windows quit taking their time with operating systems, and instead try to push them out as fast as possible to make more money, compromising the system itself.

I have computers in my house with windows 95 on it still I need a new power supply for it .
I also have 2 computers with XP, 5 with Windows 7, an iMac all-in-one for music production, and a laptop with windows 8, and a new 4Ghz Eight core desktop coming on Tuesday.

XP is a superior operating system for networks, while Windows 7 is optimized for google and facebook.
User avatar #104 to #24 - cabbagemayhem (04/11/2014) [-]
XP had plenty to change GUI-wise, and Win7 proved that. Windows 7 has the most intuitive interface to date, with a searchable start menu, libraries, a task bar more functional in multiple ways. Not to mention user account control, various other security improvements, and countless improvements in every category.

I've never had issues networking Windows 7 (though I don't need to do it often), nor issues with updates. XP was a great leap forward, but they finally mastered the UI with Windows 7. Then, they threw it all away for Windows 8!
User avatar #105 to #104 - Tusura (04/11/2014) [-]
I just want to clear up, that I enjoy using Windows 7, and while it has been optimized and works great, it is still not the coding masterpiece that XP was.

XP had very few bugs until vista came out and they had to do "service packs" to have it work cohesively with computers running vista.

My new computer is coming with Windows 7. I have small problems with 7, but I don't come across them often in everyday computing. It's when you get into the inner workings of OS's that you encounter issues.
User avatar #26 to #24 - zomaru ONLINE (04/11/2014) [-]
While I'm not as knowledgeable on the subject, I went from XP to 7 and I only seen good things, 7 is much more streamline when switching between files and programs on the fly. And its not slow at all (Except on startup on my labtop), all those files don't put a dent in a terabyte and I don't see what background programs you're talking about.

Also, XP isn't supported by anything newer that comes out, so its useless to me.
#50 to #26 - BloodyTurds ONLINE (04/11/2014) [-]
personally speaking 7 is great IF you have the hardware to handle it, with xp you didn't need good hardware (because it was designed to run on 1/2 a gig of ram)

Windows xp is quick and efficient, because it was built in a time when those things really mattered..

though it does have its share of flaws, and on just about anything newer than 2007 I would definitely recommend windows 7.. with exception to some netbooks

Also it should be noted that microsoft will officially stop 'supporting' xp very soon. which means any new security holes likely won't get patched...
User avatar #61 to #50 - zomaru ONLINE (04/11/2014) [-]
Tomorrow, It stops tomorrow.
That's why I questioned you on it. You'd be better switching to Linux if its low processing requirements you have, because it's always supported (mostly). And unsupported OS means if someone figures out something big then you're ****** .
#106 to #61 - BloodyTurds ONLINE (04/11/2014) [-]
you didn't question me on it, that was my first post in this thread... , also your not necessarily ' ******* because 1, you still have to get infected in the first place, and 2 even though microsoft isnt fixing exploits any more, your anti-virus may still protect you...

and 3, you might not even be doing any banking on the machine (especially if your a minor) I would still use windows XP on my media center pc, if i hadn't already swapped it out for xbmc
