God is often conceived as the Supreme Being and principal object of faith.[1] In theism, God is the creator and sustainer of the universe. In deism, God is the creator (but not the sustainer) of the universe. In pantheism, God is the universe itself. The concept of God as described by theologians commonly includes the attributes of omniscience (infinite knowledge), omnipotence (unlimited power), omnipresence (present everywhere), omnibenevolence (perfect goodness), divine simplicity, and eternal and necessary existence. Monotheism is the belief in the existence of one God or in the oneness of God. God has also been conceived as being incorporeal (immaterial), a personal being, the source of all moral obligation, and the "greatest conceivable existent".[1] Many notable medieval philosophers and modern philosophers have developed arguments for and against the existence of God.[2]

This is a matter of understanding evolution. Reptiles as dinosaurs used eggs long before chickens did. The egg came first

And if you look down at the comments, you'll see a bunch of people getting scientific over a web comic....

They are just trying to compete and get acknowledged as an intelligent person; of course, the more intelligent people would not take it so seriously in the first place.

you're right, what kind of gratification could come from having a pissing contest with people you will likely never meet. It's Funny Junk, leave your trivial arguments for real life. That's actually one of my biggest problems with this site. All these neck beards are trying to prove a point about how "intellectual" they are despite it being completely pointless.

Believe it or not,the comment section used to be hilarious, because peoples focuses were on writing something funny, not reassuring how smart they were.

The riddle if thats what its considered doesn't specify what kind of egg it is, so it could be a dinosaur egg which means it came first.
#21 to #14 - anon (03/12/2014) [-]
It's always the egg this depends what your ask which came first say t-Rex or the egg it will be egg due fact there animals who were before t-Rex using eggs before them but this works until you go so far back to animal that was first one to use eggs to give birth to next gernirtaion what ever tht could be
#67 to #14 - implication (03/12/2014) [-]
Your pseudo-intellectual comment Yeah, thats what its considered by everyone doesn't specify what kind of dinosaur it is, so it could be **************** REX which means it came first when he was ******* ur mom.

Technically it was the egg that came first.
Whatever laid the egg must not have been genetically identical to what we call a chicken today. It may have been extremely similar but a few genetic things were different enough so that it's not classified as a chicken. When it laid the egg a mutation occurred and whats now going to be classified as a chicken will eventually hatch from that egg.
At least that's how I see it.

Tho what you said about evolution is true, it's a matter of personal view, to explain it simply(but retardedly), let's say a dog lays an egg with a cat inside it(yes I know I know, retarded), but my point: is it a dog egg because a dog laid it or a cat egg because the egg contains a cat? All a matter of personal opinion, there is no real answer to this, the definition of the word "egg" is not specific enough to answer it definitely.
User avatar #22 - taokami (03/12/2014) [-]
At a biblical stand point, the chicken came first before the egg "God created every living creature of the seas and every winged bird, blessing them to multiply and fill the waters and the sky with life.", at a scientific standpoint, the egg came first, with evolution and all that **** .

It's pretty simple. We basically have to go back to time in the evolutionary timeline of the chicken till we get to the first chicken like animal that is unable to breed fertile offspring with the modern chicken, that chicken is technically a different species and thus laid the first chicken egg through genetic mutations, because the egg holds the genetic material of the first animal we'd call a chicken it means the chicken egg came first.

why is this a debate, i feel like it is fairly obvious. a creature that wasnt a chicken laid an egg that ended up becoming a chicken, then that chiken laid an egg

That's not what I'm doing at all, you mental midget. I stated that the counterclaim to the "Egg came first, laid by a non-chicken bird" claim made by evolution is the "Animals were all created by a deity, therefore the chicken came first" claim made by pretty much every religion, with a few exceptions.

I'm not being fedorable here. I was just pointing out where the other side of the argument comes from. Learn to ******* read before you start being an asshole.

I'd hate to over think a silly web comic, but there is an answer, assuming you believe in evolution.

The egg came first. Through years of breeding, the species that came before the chicken in the evolutionary chain laid an egg that had a mutation that made it the first of the "chicken" species we know today.

The egg came first.
#37 - krakalisk (03/12/2014) [-]

User avatar #108 to #7 - artvandelay (03/12/2014) [-]
Because derived characteristics are not passed on to the next generation, the egg has to have come first. Genetic mutation during meiosis would be the only was for the new species to emerge.
User avatar #8 to #7 - blackkid (03/12/2014) [-]
No, it's actually not.

The egg came before, because the creature that laid the first egg of the first chicken was a different version. The egg hatched had a genetic mutation making it different from the foul that laid it. The egg hatches and becomes the first chicken.
#10 to #8 - quiescat (03/12/2014) [-]
thus making the egg it came out of the first chicken egg, but only after said chicken was made, so you cant have the chicken egg until you know its a chicken, thus begging the quantum question.

which is all just Schrodinger's cat . so maybe what we should say is what came first the cat, or the chicken egg. just to **** with people.
User avatar #11 to #10 - blackkid (03/12/2014) [-]

noooooooooooooooope. A chicken like creature that was impregnated by a creature like a chicken but not quite, laid a egg which thanks to a extremely slight gene differences between the two combining resulted in what could be considered the first official chicken. And if that's not good enough then I'll take the technical win since fish, amphibians and reptiles laid eggs before chickens(does not state said egg must be a chicken egg.)
#68 to #9 - ieatbengay (03/12/2014) [-]
its been found that genetic mutations in birds and reptiles they lay eggs happen within the egg, after its been fertilised because the egg is already being produced before most mutations occur, they usually occur because of differences in genetic make up or problems during growth

it doesn't happen with fish or insect eggs because the eggs are already 'seperate life' when they're made
User avatar #66 to #9 - nikolaier ONLINE (03/12/2014) [-]
this is the reason i always said that the egg came first
User avatar #13 to #9 - jasohazard (03/12/2014) [-]
But it was a chicken like creature egg not a chicken egg
#20 to #13 - xcoreyx (03/12/2014) [-]
No, because the mutations that caused the chicken-like DNA to form into chicken DNA were applied to the egg too. Let's just shorten chicken-like creature to CLC. CLC 1 and CLC 2 combine their DNA to form an egg. During that combination process, mutations happened, making an egg that would eventually hatch into a chicken instead of a CLC. Because the DNA doesn't change between the time that the egg is created and the time that it hatches, it is a chicken egg. The two CLCs made a chicken egg, due to mutation.
#54 to #20 - dudelolz (03/12/2014) [-]
It makes sense! Though I can still tell people that something had to lay the egg in the first place. Woo! Science!
