I got in a fight with a Rottweiler a few years back. When I reached for its collar to try to get some control of it, it spun and broke my middle finger (it was the only finger I got under the collar). It was a spiral fracture; break goes from one corner of one knuckle to the opposite corner of the other knuckle. Very nearly took my finger completely off. I subconsciously stopped using it and continued the fight until I subdued the dog. About a 5min brawl all told. When it was over I looked at my finger and I thought it was dislocated, so I literally grabbed my fingernail and started pulling to try and pop it back in place. After a sold 5min of ******* with it I realized that it was just broken really funny. I never once felt a single bit of pain. Until a bit more than 45min passed. Then it started to hurt bad enough to be nauseating. Some of the nausea was from the adrenaline high, but mostly the pain.

TL;DR Adrenaline is powerful **** .

For someone who gets kicked and punched as hard as he does, it probably *is* only a minor inconvenience.

That and shock. Shock and adrenaline are wonderful anesthetics

Shock and adrenaline are amazing. I broke my leg a while bag and snapped a lot of the tendons and ligaments around my knee (the actual break was my ACL tearing a large chunk out of the top of my tibia). I ain't an overly tough person but after about ten minutes of throbbing pain I figured it'd be ok to walk on. I dislocated my knee due to the lack of muscles to hold it together and just crumpled and started laughing. Pain didn't even kick in until i was in the hospital, they'd set my knee back in place and were wiggling it around for x-rays.

I remember the day I burned my hand - my own damn fault, incidentally - I remember looking down at my glove and going " **** , that kinda hurt. What the hell'd I do?"

It wasn't until I pulled my (Mechanix) glove off that I realised I'd accidentally grabbed the red hot section of metal I'd just cut with an Oxy torch. I don't even remember any pain until I looked down and figured out that I'd just melted my glove to my hand.

Yeah it's odd how there's next to no pain until you actually stop and think about the fact you ****** yourself up.

hes not dead he gets up later if you watch the video. The white guys called Adam Cellar and the black guy Uriah Hall. This knockout was said to be one of the most vicious knockouts The Ultimate Fighter has ever seen.

This was one of the scariest moments ever. The way he was laying there from :17 to :55 with no expression whatsoever. Only thing reassuring me that he wasn't actually dead or comatose in a hospital was the fact that it was pre-recorder and shown on TV.

HOLY CRAP, that's a complete grade 3 ACL tear. That bitch is GONE. My pre-PT knowledge tells me that they'll keep him going too cause the only thing you can't do with an ACL tear is pivot...... Actually a bit suprised that college has taught me this much
#14 to #6 - Matengel (04/11/2014) [-]
even if it was just the acl, you pretty much need to do everything your legs are able to do in MMA. if pivot means what i think it means, the plant leg on kicks gets twisted pretty good to geet the torque into the kick. and f the fight goes to the ground the other guy could go for a kneebar for a quick submission which would undoubtedly **** up whatever isnt already here

Try again, its the PCL that's ruptured not the ACL, the tibia is moving posteriorly relative to the femur. And I hope they don't keep him going because with the tibia lagging he is at risk of a popliteal artery tear which could lead to him losing his lower leg. (BTW I'm an ER physician).

think a second time doctor. his leg has just gone all willy wonka wibble wobley and if he can get the other to do the same thing he can flap his legs and fly away(btw im just some hick in kenctucky and my idea of medical care is a boiled sewing needle and fishing line)
