It is my personal opinion that John Stewart as President of the United States and Colbert as VP would be a duo that would solve all the US debt and relations issues in less than 1 term.
Scratch that- less than 6 months.

Eh. I think Jon Stewart is too blatantly opinionated. We really need a president who just wants what's best for the country, and all of the people in it.

Or just a civil war since things are becoming so polarized.

If they were elected, nothing would get done; you'd have to give their 13 writers each political power too. Stewart and Colbert would be lost without them.

The president has to do what congress tells him to. The president can make suggestions and speeches and such, but in the end he's more of a scapegoat who people put the blame on. Good luck with congress
User avatar #14 to #8 - laelaps (10/30/2013) [-]
Yes. Let us just ignore the 535 people in the legislature that would prevent anything from getting done.

I'm gonna have to give this one to laelaps. As much as I would like to give Jon Stewart political power, no one in congress would let him get anything done for fear of him making them look bad. That includes both sides of the aisle.

Look, basically every government on the planet does this kind of **** , spying on other countries. All of them, even the one of the country you live in. The USA just was the one that got caught.

Ireland doesn't, because we know how to mind our own ******* business!

and so do our politicians when it comes to internal security if they no what's good for them...

Before this scandal, Canada was caught hacking Brazil and making a map of all governmental connections, E-mails and phone calls. I guess the U.S. just did it on a larger scale.

And that means we should just let it roll over then? Every advanced country on the planet has nukes, guess we should give those to Iran just because everyone else has them.

Letting them completely **** the 4th amendment is literally going to cause nothing but trouble. It's even completely ineffective, the NSA director even said they've yet to stop anything from happening with the information received.
User avatar #27 to #26 - neoexdeath ONLINE (10/30/2013) [-]
4th amendment doesn't apply internationally, just to citizens and on American soil. And you really can't compare nuclear weapons with who the Prime Minister of France is talking to...unless she's talking to a sapient nuke and influencing when and where it's going to go off. Which would be awesome, and horrifying.
#28 to #27 - anon (10/30/2013) [-]
Data is still being illegally collected in the US, thus making the entirety of it unconstitutional.

And yes, you can, if we're going down the road of doing something just because other countries do more serious things like nukes will eventually come into play, it's not a precedent i'd like being made in international law but it's a door that could be opened.

Honestly I keep hearing all these posts about revolutions and reform...
The reform needs to happen with the people. We need to America because none of these scumbags would make it into office if we didn't choose them.
