This is not a top list, this is a list of random good anime, no need to get butthurt.
Meant mostly for beginners, but it could come in handy for everyone.

"Yes, some of the series here are entry-level crap (SAO, AgK) and some have way better alternatives (Slam Dunk is arguably better than Kuroko no Basket, etc). I try to compromise between accessibility for beginners and quality."

Fullmetal Alchemist is the best way to recruit more weebs to our ranks

Is FMA worth finishing? I got decently far into it and then got bored and stopped watching it. I like the concept and stuff so I might pick it up again. Also what about FMA: Brotherhood? (Or whatever the **** the other version is)
User avatar #193 to #177 - destismad (09/11/2015) [-]
I'd say finish FMA. Then watch FMA:B. If you watch Brotherhood first then eventually go back and finish FMA you'll be disappointed. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood is better than Full Metal Alchemist. It's not an opinion, it's fact. Watch them both and you'll see why.
#274 to #193 - neexx (09/11/2015) [-]
I actually disliked FMA:B. I dunno why. I just felt that in the regular FMA you got to know the characters more, I know FMA:B follows the manga, but I didnt enjoy it. Also, take this for the feels
#208 to #193 - unaniwanimous (09/11/2015) [-]
I ended up watching Brotherhood, the original but I liked the series enough that I never got bored with it. I just liked the back ground of the homunculi in the original so much better.
User avatar #394 to #193 - tenorkitsune (11/01/2015) [-]
You're right in that it's better written plot wise, but i enjoyed the feel of FMA better than Brotherhood. It was darker and more impactful with what it did, even if the things it did were flawed filler plots. If i could have the plot of Brotherhood with how FMA felt, that would be one godly version.

(plus, as a side note, i appriciated how they actually had a 12 year-old play Alphonse rather than just have a woman voice it. It felt authentic.)
User avatar #395 to #394 - destismad (11/01/2015) [-]
It's been awhile since I've re-watched Brotherhood, and I haven't watched the original in 4 years so I don't remember to much, but I do remember and like how the homunculi were created in the original. In my opinion that's really the only thing the original had over Brotherhood and it's **** ending doesn't come close to Brotherhood's sheer epicness , but of course their method of creation in Brotherhood was necessary for the story.
Seriously though, **** FMA's ending.
User avatar #396 to #395 - tenorkitsune (11/01/2015) [-]
No, i agree with you, especially since the Shamballa movie left it just as unresolved, only worse because now winry is not only left behind, but also alone.

Wraths concept was also kinda **** , bit i digress on that. I enjoyed FMA thoroughly when i watched it, and i hope people are willing to give it a chance, but i do agree that Brotherhood is the overall better of the two.
#367 to #193 - erbbraun (09/11/2015) [-]
I liked the first 20-ish episodes of FMA better than brotherhood, it seemed liked it progressed at a better pace.

Spoiler below
The biggest thing being when Ed an Al found out that philo stones required human souls, in the FMA it seemed like a huge deal and a long time to figure out, in brotherhood they basically figured it out over a screen transition
User avatar #276 to #177 - doctorcamden (09/11/2015) [-]
Brotherhood is more condensed, canon accurate and has no filler. Its graphically better as well. Give up on FMA, jump onto FMA:Brotherhood.
#220 to #177 - internetnick (09/11/2015) [-]
Brotherhood is amazing.

Regular is meh.
User avatar #213 to #177 - pokemonstheshiz (09/11/2015) [-]
If you finish the original, don't forget to watch the movie (Conqueror of Shambala), it clears up a lot of things because the series ending didn't really wrap up everything
User avatar #179 to #177 - darkoblivion (09/11/2015) [-]
brotherhood is better imo.
User avatar #180 to #179 - xgokaru (09/11/2015) [-]
But should I still finish FMA or just skip it and head straight into Brotherhood? Cause if I remember correctly Brotherhood and FMA have no reliance on the other.
User avatar #183 to #180 - darkoblivion (09/11/2015) [-]
If you only want to watch one get your ass into brotherhood right now and don't look back.

If you don't mind watching both and have the free time i say stick with FMA until you don't like it anymore then switch to brotherhood. Ever since i saw brotherhood the first version of FMA just kinda turned grey. I can't say i hate it, but i can't say i love it as long as bortherhood exists. Every character just feels....better in brotherhood.

#211 to #183 - pokemonstheshiz (09/11/2015) [-]
A lot of things were done way better in the original imo. The character development(they're both good at this, but Ed and Al changed their perspectives a lot in the original, they were pretty much set in Brotherhood), the way homunculi were created, where they get the energy for alchemy, etc. Brotherhood is definitely better overall, but I think a lot of the writing in the original is better.

A lot of people like it up to the point where L dies. At least all of the people I have spoken (myself included). Still, I watched it to the end for closure. I just can't stand not finishing a series.
User avatar #377 to #288 - shunkahawolf (09/11/2015) [-]
i liked it up to the part where the father threatens to kill light and himself in a last ditch effort to prove light isnt kira. like i get that L is supposed to be a mega genius detective and all that but ALL of the evidence pointed to light being innocent and he still focused on him for absolutely no reason what so ever. then the rest of the cops focus on him as well even after his father uses the shinigami eyes to confirm light isnt in possession of a deathnote (at the time) honestly i would have liked it alot more if either light actually ****** up and gave them a reason to mistrust him, or he got away with it because at the end near, mellow, and L all had fourth wall breaking levels of instinct about light.

Voice actors, man. Personally, I think it's quite fun when I hear another character.

For instance, I heard Dio in the Overlord series - as the commander of the blue theocracy forces. They had some other name, but I forgot. "Sloane" or something, I think.

The last one I watched was Texhnolyze because part one of this content showed me it and I was intrigued. I'm always down for some aphotic animes. I'm only three episodes in and... it's unique, I'll give them that, but what a ******** . One of those real slow burner types.

I remember watching Another a while ago, it was pretty enjoyable. Though, I'm still on the fence about the ending. I watched it in about two sittings and was left... wanting. I don't know what though. So, I looked up animes like it and found Higurashi... and it all went downhill from there.
