mymathlab

checkmate students.

for those that dont know, mymathlab is satan's asshole. it ensures you buy a new textbook each time, you cant buy used or rent a book or anything. it makes it a requirement to buy the textbook to complete homework too, so even if you are a master at calculus, you will still need to buy the textbook to have access to the homework questions. basically a **** you to poor students.

**** Pearson's ****** services so ******* much. Business teacher last semester require a MyBizLab code along with the textbook. MyBizLab didn't even ******* work for a whole goddamn month, and when it did, we only used it for TWO ******* HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS

i just got the one textbook, then borrowed the next trimesters one off a mate, and i used the same mymathlab account.
also you can get the pdf textbooks and buy the mymathlab pin separately.
#25 to #22 - applescryatnight (05/31/2015) [-]
yeah, but the pin is still like $80-ish for me, $100-ish for pin with the textbook.
i like buying the textbook because it has the added bonus of being easy to study with on the train/ right before tests.
you can probably buy the textbook itself off of amazon for $5 though.

and its not like pearson has high quality textbooks or anything...

But MML is such a helpful, well-designed resource. How could anyone learn calculus without it?
User avatar #16 to #3 - morphodite (05/31/2015) [-]
Seriously, **** MML. I can't tell you how many times I got an answer wrong because I was missing a space or the program didn't make something an exponent even though I clicked the button in the side bar. My Pre-Cal teacher made it so I only had three chances per hw problem, and it was the worst. Good thing my Calc I professor didn't assign any mandatory hw

Am I the only one who finds printed versions of text books much easier to use? Its easier to highlight parts and jot down notes, and mark your page to easily flip back and forth and such. Not to mention easier on the eyes than a computer screen and I'm less likely to get distracted by the other things available on the computer.

I agree, but people who highlight in textbooks are worse than Hitler.

some teachers actually require you to have the book in class with you. I had a professor once that literally all he did was read straight out of the book
#24 to #10 - anon (05/31/2015) [-]
And 9 times out of 10, they only require you to buy it because they wrote it and collect royalties every time somebody buys it.

eh that's alright for some courses, i'm doing a bachelor of it and i can easily say that the hardback versions are much better then the pdf, having a library of programming language 'law' is very useful when trying to figure out solutions to bugs and what not.
