32gig to spend all day on FJ
your parents must be proud
also anything more than 8 gb is overkill

It is pretty great, isn't it?
I have never had trouble running anything.
User avatar #58 to #56 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
There exists no challenges for it currently, if there does you can always overclock it lol, totally overpowered.

I actually didn't know about the specs before I got the computer, I was planning on building it myself but got lazy (and found a crazy deal)
It is kind of a pick your part style and they build the computer for you (I'd likely make a stupid mistake)

I just looked at the list of CPUs and picked the best one...
User avatar #69 to #63 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
And it is also cheaper**
User avatar #68 to #63 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
Oh, well i pick out parts and build my computers by myself,
If you're not going to overclock then the 4770K is a waste, 4770 is the same CPU, just not unlocked and therefor not overclockable.
#74 to #68 - autoxx (11/14/2013) [-]
The way the guy explained it is the same as the way you did, there is always overclocking if you need to in the future.
I'd prefer to be able to keep up as time marches on and this feature is just another way of doing so.
Making an awesome GPU and then locking it or disabling sectors in "the cheaper versions" kind of pisses me off though...
User avatar #80 to #74 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
Right then, just remember you will probably need better cooling if you're going to Overclock, which is an extra expense. Liquid cooling if you want to stay safe.
Most high end GPUs are overclockable today (GTX 760 - 770 - 780, AMD R9 290 - 290x etc) or comes Pre-overclocked by the company (MSI 760 Lightning and such) and you always have the possibility to put them in SLI / Crossfire

I have a 770 in this one, they were supposed to put a 660 in it but they ran out and upgraded for me a bit.
User avatar #83 to #81 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
The 770 is a great value for perfomance, would definitely recommend you to wait about 1 year (hopefully prices drop) and then put it in SLI, Beast mode achieved.
#90 to #83 - autoxx (11/14/2013) [-]
what do you mean by "put it in SLI?"
User avatar #106 to #90 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
(nVidea) SLI or (AMD) Crossfire are speciel sockets that allows you to have up to (i think) 3 GPUs working together in a single computer (it has to be the same GPUs though, i.e. 2x 770 or 3x Titans
#110 to #106 - autoxx (11/14/2013) [-]
So it allows them to communicate so they aren't both trying to do the same job then?
User avatar #113 to #110 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
It basically makes them cooperate and greatly increases performance

Okay mr. smartiepants, so now how do I get my vcr to stop flashing 12:00?

But seriously, thanks for answering my questions.

But seriously, no problem

RRP for I7 quad 4770k, £300
RRP for phenom AMD 8 core black edition: £160
I7 might be faster and better but you cant beat AMD on value for money.
User avatar #57 to #54 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
True, but i don't have to change the i7 for another 4-6 years and can overclock it as i see fit.
User avatar #59 to #57 - voltkills ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
i dont plan to upgrade my AMD 8 core for about 4-5 years, and i can overclock, well, i could but my cooling is crap and my GPU is hot as hell, got to fix that still.
User avatar #61 to #59 - hemming (11/14/2013) [-]
You could always buy one of those tiny Liquid Cooling systems that only goes on the CPU / GPU.
Also, Cheap fans in large numbers can cool quite effectively (though might be noisy), i brought the temperature down dramatically by adding another 3-4 small fans and rearranging them for best possible air flow
#78 to #61 - autoxx (11/14/2013) [-]
3D printer to make a wind funnel and a 200mm fan ;) It would be about $20 for the fan and flows >90cfm
