hundreds of volumes from history that could help us learn more about earlier social migration, fill in a fairly large gap of cultural and technological history, and most likely hold works that could be equal to, if not greater than, many novels that have been created in the last few decades?

While I will agree that the information may not be useful, that doesn't mean it isn't important.

There's also what it symbolized. It was the greatest gathering center for scholars at that time, a hub of knowledge.. And we know next to nothing about it.
And just to make this thread even more sad; think of that one priest who burned all but 4 of the mayan books. History is lost, much of it forgotten, and as time passes more of it will erode, and sometimes all it takes is the burning of books

novels are not important or useful at all. It's all irrelevant.

We'd just know a little bit more about antique history and that's it, but 99% of people don't learn what's available about history anyway

Also on a somewhat related note; i hold to the notion that the destruction of the Library of Alexandria is one of if not the greatest travesty in human history.

To be fair, he wouldn't have needed to play music on his phone or do or anything for that matter. Healthy (non-rabid) wolves don't really attack people; they're extremely shy and skittish to the point of wetting themselves if you approach or threaten them and they can't get away. Even an entire pack would most likely be curious at best. Coyotes and feral dogs are much more inclined to go after small children.

Well that Dr. Dre one is no surprise. CD's are probably about 10 cents worth of material being sold at $15 a pop, where those headphones are probably a maximum of $5-$10 of material, being sold for over $200.

"A Norwegian boy escaped from wolves by playing a heavy metal song by Megadeth on his cell phone."

More likely that he "escaped" the wolves simply by being a human being. It's really, really rare for wolves to actually attack people. They'd pretty much only do it if you were standing 20 feet from their den.
