But their strengths are opposite. Macs are generally more useful for graphical purposes, while Linux machines are generally used for programming. So functionally, not physically, they are opposites.

Graphic design is artistic and colorful and whatnot, while programming is very specific and mathematical. Its more a difference of philosophy than anything.
