Thought I would briefly touch on a sensitive topic. Do mind that this comic contains my opinion on the subject matter and should not be taken as a fact.
I will be unavailable to comment for most of tomorrow so try to keep the comment section as civil as possible.
Here's a human version of my argument for those of you Earth-born creatures.
Perfect equality is seemingly what a lot of people strive for. However, in reality, such a "utopia" would contain nothing, emptiness, void of anything as existing itself creates an inequality in the environment.
Inequality can be a GOOD thing. It creates variety, and prevents culture from becoming a boring cesspool of awfulness. Unequal circumstances is where many of humanity's most important advances were made. Societies that already had everything or were content with what they needed had no incentive to advance.
That being said, destructive inequality can result in chaos. It can come from misunderstandings, cultures that doesn't change and adapt as society moves forward and upholding harmful traditions. It can cause havoc to those on the **** end of the stick.
In my opinion, we shouldn't strive for perfect equality, as that is an impossible task and will cause more damage than good.
We should prevent and punish destructive inequalities that hinder progress and ignore inequalities that cannot be changed no matter what, or do zero harm.
Now the only problem with this stance is defining what inequalities are destructive and what aren't. That can be discussed and debated. As times change, topics will change and solutions will be different.
TL : DR Not all inequalities need to be addressed, only the destructive ones should.
any time people in the western world cry about how hard their lives are...rmind them that africa hads had to deal with being given the **** end of things both genetically and culturally
not only did mother nature **** them over with inferior genes and mentality but also humans ****** them over with domination and slavery
you have now gone from one of my favorite comic makers (because i love science and astronomy is always interesting) to my favorite because you're even smarter than i thought.
I perfectly agree with this statement and want to thank you.
I've always had the thought of equal opportunity, but equality in skill/capability just can't be changed and should be accepted as such. But your differentiation of destructive and constructive inequalities is a lot easier to understand and explain.
Man, the art/wit that goes into your work is always great. I honestly don't think I've given you enough compliments over the months you've been posting.
While I do agree on what you mean, I felt it needed to be obvious. The last thing I need is people twisting my opinions into something else based on their interpretation.
Thank you though, feed back is always appreciated.
