I wouldn't be against it if someone could tell me what armor and weapon the guy who pops out of the white soapstone sign is wearing - looks like a strong build, and at this point I'm just fooling around in DS.
thats my str build... minus the sword and sheild since i rock the artorias great sword and greatshield but the character is THE GREAT "BLACK IRON TARKUS" black iron armor with great sword and black iron great shield found in anor londo just outside the giant painting in the chapel area where you navigate the rafters. happy gaming broseph
And one more question - do you know what the guy is wearing in front of the giant black thing with red eyes and human-like teeth?
And is it at all possible to get that armor early-game?
ok im pretty sure youre talking about kirk knight of thorns, and his armor of thorns. You can only get it by triggering his three invasions throughout the game and then picking up his gear off his body that spawns after the final one. Google kirky knight of thorns to figure it all out.
Ah, no. I've always played it off and on and the furthest i got was i believe blight-town - I marathon played the game and when I got there I was burnt out. Have had to start over again.
It looks so good. I'm assuming the poise and armor is quite high? (I'm a fan of being slow but hard-hitting. I usually play tanks and whatnot in games).
oh yes even if you get hit head on by a high damage output boss (pretty much all of them) you will slide back a few feet but i never get knocked down and if you add the wolf ring for poise boost you tend to just take hits like a fly landing on your shoulder.
Last comment - I really wish I could use the Astora's Straight Sword the whole game, but from what I've heard it's only good for early game. Which sucks, considering it looks so great.
Ah yes, wolf ring <3
I'm thinking in the near future I'm going to make a character similar to Havel the Rock, although God knows how I'm going to maintain his God-tier speed with all the armor and weaponry.
Currently I'm playing through as a Knight of Astora - I got the elite knight set as well as the astora straight sword and the dragon crest shield, as well as a talisman so I could use the Lightning Spear.
One comment that I want to make is that one of the reasons I don't like DS2 is because of how bad they nerfed the Lightning Spear - it's uncanon, seeing as how with such spears Gwyn and his knights managed to one-shot dragons. Not saying that I should be able to one shot everything, but Jesus Christ, that nerf was absolutely ridiculous.
i agree with you on that. If your looking for a pretty good sword for playthrough id suggest farming for the silver knight sword in anor londo or once you get further in the game before the end farm the black knight sword for your NG+, I personally always tank so its great shields and great/ ultra great swords for me personaly
yeah if your gunna go strength build go str, end, and vit you may need dex but not past 18 or 20 and go pyromancy for the iron skin it is freaking insane for your def careful though cause you slow down to a crawl for the time its active
Do you mean Iron Flesh?
And ah, guess I'll have to restart the game then - I got dex and Str up enough to use the Astora's Straight Sword and beyond that I threw everything into faith so I could use the lightning spears... but we shall see.
faith is ok for the lightning spear but if you wanna go tank build id suggest a str, vit, end build and pyro since it has high damage output with the upgraded pyromancy flame and it requires no int or fth and yeah iron flesh lol
zwei is a good sword get it lightning and then later reclass it to chaos once you get the ember be careful in anor londo as lightning isnt the best in that area but until then its glorious
So should I make my starting class the pyromancer for the immediate pyromancy flame and whatnot, but once I start getting souls just build Str, vit, and end?
start knight class you really dont need the pyro right off the bat plus you can purchas it after you rescue the pyromancer in the sewers o your way to the second bell he will be back in firelink and gift you the pyro flame and then you can purchas the pyromancy from him
Just wanted to clarify that this is NOT mine - someone posted it on a DS thread a month or more ago (luckily they had it because they said youtube took it down and i, for the life of me, could not find a source on youtube for it).
I uploaded it here specifically to share with a few friends because it was too big to share through facebook messenger.
Thanks for helping me figure out that some people might be assuming that this is mine, which is not. Posted a sticky about that just in case some are confused.
Anyway, continuing, I enjoyed Dark Souls 1 more than 2 for multiple reasons - i like the old, medieval-ish, dark setting much more than I did the nature-iness of Dark Souls 2. I also like the fact that in DS1, with some work, you can get access to pretty decent weapons from the get-go. I also enjoyed what felt to me was more class accessibility than in DS2 - you could join the sun covenant early on, I could carry a legitimate "holy man" build because of that. Pyromancy is available from the moment you start the game, and many more reasons.
TL;DR I prefer DS1 because DS2 felt too nature-y/not dark enough, and felt at least for me like it had less class accessibility, plus that lightning spear nerf just slaughtered any point of using it - I mean, lower damage AND uses? Come on now.
