The third part in my Elder Scrolls Lore series. I'm working with *************** to cover the rich and vast lore of the Elder Scrolls together. This post concerns the Monomyth, the collective creation story that can be found in every religion on Mundus.

You should touch on how Tiber Septim became the god Talos in one of these comps.

Well, yes, everyone's read the wiki, but the wiki isn't as cool as a comp!

No matter what the Altmer say, Talos is a god. He may not be one of the Divines, but he is a god.

i used to do that, but I find that I don't really look at my favorites anymore. Instead I look back at my comments more for some reason.

Nice summary

Some additional info for people who want to know:

Padomay is Sithis

Direnni tower is the first of many that hold the world together. Red Mountain, White Gold Tower, and the Throat of the world are others.
Each game has seen the deactivation of the tower and its "stone" (The thing used to keep the tower active and reality stable, ie the Heart of Lorkhan for Red Mountain or Amulet of Kings for White Gold)
The Altmer (purest descendants of Aldmer) want to destroy the towers so they can achieve apotheosis (godhood). The Thalmor in Skyrim want to destroy the Throat of the World because after Red Mountain fell in TES III and White Gold fell in IV, they were closer to their goal.

Plus a bunch of other **** about Lorkhan and Akatosh being the same person with split personalities that I'm too tired to explain.
User avatar #57 to #5 - ninjawizards (03/26/2014) [-]
I'd also like to know about the throat of the world if poss.
User avatar #61 to #57 - mynameisgeorge (03/26/2014) [-]
Not much else to say. The tower's name is "Snow Throat" and in the Dragonborn prophecy it is said to be "sundered, kingless, and bleeding"

Also, it says the summit is only half there, possibly referring to the time wound on top of the mountain
User avatar #62 to #61 - ninjawizards (03/26/2014) [-]
Thanks man cool stuff. How'd you find all this out? The books in the game?
User avatar #63 to #62 - mynameisgeorge (03/26/2014) [-]
Some of it is in game, but additional information is on www.imperial-library.info/‎
and summaries on /tg/.

A lot of it is controversial because the guy that wrote a lot of the lore, Michael Kirkbride, doesn't work for Bethesda anymore but he wrote a lot of additional lore without them.

Stuff like Altmer and Imperials making moon colonies by flying on giant moths and Pelinal Whitestrake being a robot from the future that got sent back in time and went crazy

The stone is called "The Cave"

Nobody knows if it's been destroyed or not.

Some people think the stone is Parthurnax

Nice compilation. If you want to delve deeper into Elder Scrolls lore and branch out a bit into the theoretical (well-grounded, but technically non-canon), the Nu-Mantia Intercept is a great read. Judging by your familiarity with The Monomyth, I'm guessing you've read this already, but here's a link nonetheless: www.imperial-library.info/content/nu-mantia-intercept

I have an interesting idea for a comp on it.

Maybe since Nirn has multiple moons you could do a comp and find out a bit about each of them. I also noticed that in Part 2 there was what looked like a planet called planes of oblivion. Is Oblivion another world or one of their moons judging from the distance?
User avatar #19 - mrsnowballs (03/26/2014) [-]
Wait then the Elves were right! If all of the Divines are some higher beings who were born before the creation of Nirn, how can Talos be one of them? I mean he can be a saint or whatever, but not a god.

take your blasphemy and skedaddle right the **** outta here scum
#35 to #19 - acheryus (03/26/2014) [-]
he was ascended by the other gods, he did nothing to attain god hood, but the other gods were like ok this guy is cool, an alternant idea is that he is just believed to have the powers of a god as he was a dragonborn there for having powers that other humans were incapable of attaining, if you played through the Dragonborn Dlc then you will see that given enough time that a dragonborn can wield tons of power, thus creating the rumor that the gods made him a god. there is at this time no clear answer whether of not Talos is one of the Nine, the only facts known about him is that he was very powerful and killed or enslaved many dragons (sons of Akatosh) and that he created the first empire of man.

Of course Talos is a god, otherwise the main quest line in Oblivion would never have succeeded. To explain, a part of the ritual that would facilitate traveling to Mankar Camoran's Paradise required the 'Blood of the Divine.' Martin Septim proposed that the term may not be literal, but may instead mean an item directly associated with a god. With this in mind, the Hero of Kvatch is dispatched to Sancre Tor to retrieve the armor of Tiber Septim, i.e. Talos. With the armor, the ritual is able to be performed later in the story. So unless there was some misinterpretation, this should definitively prove that Talos is indeed Divine.
#64 to #39 - zahren (03/26/2014) [-]
I haven't played Oblivion in a long time, but didn't Martin suggest the Armor of Tiber Septim because it was stained with Tiber Septim's blood, thus being a literal interpretation of "Blood of a Divine".
Of course this doesn't change the fact that Talos is a Divine.
User avatar #65 to #64 - ranzoray (03/26/2014) [-]
I don't recall that being the case, but I myself haven't played in a while, so you could be right.
