I found that mission is easy as hell if you immediately go to the left along the beach and then go to their spawn island, you can take out the droids before they get to the vehicles and thus stop 90% of your problems right there
User avatar #40 to #7 - erpee (03/27/2014) [-]
I was just playing that mission last night, Galactic War is hell, man.

Empire version of spider walker
User avatar #80 to #15 - cerbearus ONLINE (03/27/2014) [-]
The AT-TE was far superior to the AT-AT IMO. Can't be knocked down by tiny ships with ropes, and have many more guns and can actually defend themselves unlike the empire version which had 2 forward guns and that's it.
User avatar #98 to #80 - qauronexoforce (03/27/2014) [-]
Except the AT-TE can be killed by just droids on hover cycles with lances.
#39 - erpee (03/27/2014) [-]
I always thought that trooper in Ep III that jumped on top of that Spider Droid and blasted it was a badass he was my hero

Yeah it's from the movie, right when the 212th gets to Utapau.

I wonder if we were to manufacture some of these things, would they actually work as intended? I feel like the AT-ST would snap it's own legs, and I can't imagine the Hail-fire tank working well
User avatar #31 to #19 - undeadmaus (03/26/2014) [-]
It's not impossible but what's the point? All these things look good but they are highly impractical. Aside from the armoured assault tank all the others need just one hit to be damaged critically.
#23 to #19 - mdmurphy (03/26/2014) [-]
Different materials were used in the SW universe. I believe "plasteel" (A combination of plastic and steel) is a common example that doesn't exist in the real world.

If you tried to build a modern-day firearm with medieval era metallurgy, it would blow up in your face. LIkewise, some SW things take a bit of creative license and invent workarounds to silly things like physics.
User avatar #159 to #23 - monkeysniper (03/28/2014) [-]
True but we have things today that were thought of as fiction 20 years ago, for all we know we could have these in 50 years
User avatar #163 to #159 - mdmurphy (03/29/2014) [-]
Which is the true beauty of science fiction. Star Trek is a great example of fantasy inspiring reality. "Warp" travel is being researched. The data tablets they carried around helped inspire modern tablet computers. Handheld communicators (cell phones) and their tricorders (google "multi-REA") are real things now too.

Star Wars' lightsabers are still a no-go though.

All this talk about credits has me wondering... how much is 1 credit worth?
User avatar #6 to #3 - huntergriff ONLINE (03/26/2014) [-]
1 dollar apparently.
User avatar #8 to #6 - crazyolitis (03/26/2014) [-]
Is it just me, or does $60000 for a futuristic tank like that sems a little cheap? But then again, it is the future...
#21 to #8 - theheroearthneeds (03/26/2014) [-]
Actually it is a long time ago..in a galaxy far far away.
User avatar #9 to #8 - huntergriff ONLINE (03/26/2014) [-]
You can get a used version of the Millenium Falcon for 25 grand, New would be 100 grand.
User avatar #141 to #8 - jukuku (03/27/2014) [-]
Given the extremely advanced technology, it is reasonable to assume everything is much, much cheaper. Fully auto-mated and self-sustaining mines and manufacturing. As things get more and more advanced, they should get cheaper.

When I was younger my little brother and I built up lego star wars armies against each other. I took the droids while he built up his clone armies. I went through all the droid sections of those encyclopedias and built all of these models from scratch... sadly I got rid of them in some attempt to be cool.

I should have my invisible hand (general grevious' flag ship) lying around somewhere though. Will deliver i f I can find it

I always felt the movies portrayed the CIS as a rather weak enemy compared to the Republic
User avatar #44 to #41 - iceguy ONLINE (03/27/2014) [-]
that's because the clones were far superior, the movies only go over episodes 1-6 and the clones appeared in 2 and 3, before them the droids were kicking ass on the jedi since the out-numbered them by millions, also the clones were superior due to their training and human minds/senses
#88 to #41 - soapybox (03/27/2014) [-]
I felt as though Republic Commandos really did the Heavy Battle Droids justice. Big hunkering machines as opposed to flimsy piles of plastic in the movies.

Republic Commando gave the SW a really gritty military perspective. Unlike the movies which really focused on the jedi more and didn't really explore the clones outside of huge battles.
User avatar #45 to #41 - kelseymiss (03/27/2014) [-]
it was essentially:
republic- military tactics
cis- "zerg rush" tactics
User avatar #28 - ezombio (03/26/2014) [-]
If one well placed shot is all it takes for a Hellfire tank to down an AT-TE, the Geonosis map on Battlefront 2 was all lies.
#35 to #28 - Dadhhg (03/27/2014) [-]
Have you ever tried to actually hit the weakpoint of the at-te in battlefront two with that thing, not easy
