Guys, shendron pointed out that the military one is not entirely true. I was told multiple times by higher that we couldn't do that and it was against regulations, but apparently it is up to the commander's discretion. Although, the true reason for that is to call out the guys who are overly motivated (called moto in the military) and wear military gear and clothing everywhere they go to show they are in the military. There are entire popular facebook pages devoted to making fun of kids who get overly motivated branch tattoos, wear issued backpacks around all day, and wear issued clothing for civilian apparel. I guess you have to be in the military to understand how gay that is. Sorry

#2 - anon (02/02/2014) [-]
The guy who goes around the gym judging everyone.
User avatar #298 to #2 - mlpokeyuan (02/03/2014) [-]
I feel like everyone at the gym does that. I feel like everyone is staring at me and judging everything about me.
User avatar #6 to #2 - clannadqs (02/02/2014) [-]
Sometimes judging is a good thing. Most of the people in the gym that get ridiculed are ******* their bodies up by lifting wrong or being extremely annoying. It's been proven that if your main lifts rely on using the Smith Machine you are more likely to get injured in the long run.
#128 to #6 - anon (02/02/2014) [-]
lmfao look at this faggot trying to defend himself. Op you probably started working out recently and now think you're apart of some community of bodybuilders.
User avatar #131 to #128 - clannadqs (02/02/2014) [-]
Or I've been lifting for around seven years and I'm insulted you would even mention the word "bodybuilder" in regards to me.

"the military guy who wears a portion of his uniform every workout" you mean those shorts that are pretty much the same as any other workout shorts except that they have the word "Army" on them? Yeah, those must be so difficult to put up with
#66 - joffreyking (02/02/2014) [-]
#43 - lolollo (02/02/2014) [-]
I wear the lower half of my PT uniform to work out because if I don't, I'd have to wear my funky ass cargo shorts to run.

"Dude, bruh, just go buy some workout shorts bruh!"

Well I would, but how retarded would it be to go out and drop $20 on a pair of work out shorts with the Nike logo embroidered on them when the army's already made me sign out a decent pair for "free"? Almost as retarded as assuming that the guy wearing army shorts is doing so simply because you'll notice them and be impressed?

Yeah...that's Ben Stiller in a horse movie retarded...

Seems to me the only one who's really guilty of something is the asshole who'd think to look for any of these "stereotypes."
User avatar #44 to #43 - clannadqs (02/02/2014) [-]
- You're saying it is bad to judge people who have terrible form or those who don't follow proper gym etiquette (douche bags).
- There is no way you don't own a ****** pair of sweat pants as those are the best articles of clothing anyone can work out in.
User avatar #47 to #44 - lolollo (02/02/2014) [-]
**** , the army made me sign out for a pair of those to! I usually wear them OVER the army shorts until I get to the machine. Then I take them off, run, and put them back on. I'd run in those just so jerkoffs like you don't think I'm trying to manipulate you into admiring the fact that I'm in the military, but it tends to not suck as much when I run in I do...

As for telling people how they should work out, I have no idea where you go that. If you see me at the gym, it's to get my miles in, which is a strict "Alright, let's get this ******** over with..." situation. If anything, it annoys me when people are just THERE. I don't care about whatever form you're using for whatever, because chances are I'm just doing my best to pretend you don't exist...
User avatar #49 to #47 - clannadqs (02/02/2014) [-]
That's not the point. A lot of people don't follow proper gym etiquette and are extremely annoying. On top of that it is actually great for those getting into lifting to see those who are made fun of for form or improper gym etiquette so they don't mess up their body or look like a douchebag. Also, I'm talking about being in a gym, not running.
User avatar #51 to #49 - lolollo (02/02/2014) [-]
I run in the gym given the fact that my cardio's the biggest problem I have with it. It's more efficient that way.

And I fail to see how a little "ARMY" logo is supposed to detract from your gym going experience...unless you really are the judgmental cunt people say you are.
User avatar #53 to #51 - clannadqs (02/02/2014) [-]
I guess you don't really go to a large gym. You have no idea how many kids fresh out of basic/boot come into the gym and wear moto **** and walk around with their invisible lats as if they earned something (yet are still the weakest kids in the gym). I'm 11B and I hate moto apparel (which is rare). I'm sorry if that bothers you, but the photo is simply an example. I have seen that guy ten times in my gym with those exact same PT shorts on within a three week time frame.
#55 to #53 - lolollo (02/02/2014) [-]
Honestly, it is a pretty small gym. It's the complementary set of weights/treadmills the apartment complex has so they can put in their brochures another reason to tack on $50 for rent. I go there because it's close, and it's not that "uber awesome official gym **** yeah!" atmosphere I really can't stand. It's the people. I don't like it when people know I'm working out. Don't know what it is, the idea pisses me off for some reason. It could be because working out in general is just an annoying thing I have to do.

If I saw a kid in moto gear, I'd probably be more annoyed at the fact I gave above than specifically the moto gear. I'd be thinking " **** can't this guy just leave so I can enjoy the solitude **** **** ass cunt!"

I do understand the whole " ******** ARMY YEAH!" bit though. I mean...we have an ROTC program at the school. Respect the hell out of 90% of them, but the other 10% are just...ghuh!
User avatar #56 to #55 - clannadqs (02/02/2014) [-]
You're in the National Guard? I was actually involved in a senior military program at the University of North Georgia ( one of five or six in the country, I believe) and I just couldn't handle the kids there. Keep in mind that college had 850+ kids in the ROTC program so a battalion commander got quite cocky.
User avatar #60 to #56 - lolollo (02/02/2014) [-]
Well for one, thank you for not immediately going off on a "weekend warrior" tangent. The full "legit" army wasn't as accomodating for my degree as the National Guard was.

Also yeah...the "battalion" here is just 2 "platoons" worth, with each "platoon" having a couple dozen guys. Having a hundred guys on the roster for the 1-4 class would be considered crowded. You get the handful that are just "NNNNNNGGGHH wat are you doing?! That's how you plan to lead people?! ARMY people?!" but for the most part they're a lot more down to earth than people give them credit for...

I think a mix of self fulfilling prophesy, and just the fact that those meatheads are the loudest are to blame for most of the stereotype.

Do you people ever consider that the text doesn't directly relate to the photos as most of those were found online? I'm referring to those that walk around with issued backpacks, combat boots, workout in military apparel or issued clothing, and wear dog togs hanging out. Hopefully you aren't one of those pieces of **** . Please, learn how to use common sense as around twenty to thirty kids have assumed the photos directly relate to the text. Also, if you were literate you would see that I took time out of my day way before you posted this to say I was wrong in regards to wearing the PT shorts and apologized. Next time, pay attention before posting.
#300 to #197 - oxYKellark (02/03/2014) [-]
The problem i have with you is that you think that using things in public that you have earned is some how wrong and disrespectful. It sounds like you have a case of butthurt because you didn't score high enough on the ASVAB to make it or got kicked out in basic for being a **** . I only agree with you on two points, dog tags hanging out, and working out in cammies. The dog tag thing really makes me pissed off because 99% of the people who i see wearing dog tags outside of their clothes aren't military and if they are they should know better because that was one of the things that you would get absolutely ****** up for in basic. Second, going to the gym in your work uniform. I personally have never seen this but i guess you have, if some douche nozzle is working out in ACU's with boots blouse and everything he should get kicked in the dick. The only acceptable time to do that in my mind is on ******* deployment.
Regardless of your intention of the picture, which is the point of posting text on a picture to relate the picture to what you are saying about it. Tard. Common sense would dictate relating the two.
Don't worry i read all the stickies but i still felt the need to point out how dumb you sound. Its not just the shorts though, why buy another backpack or water reservoir, or winter cap, or anything that is useful to you if you already have one? That would be dumb as **** . So good day to you sir.
User avatar #302 to #300 - clannadqs (02/03/2014) [-]
Let's just calm down and let this one pass. I admit I ****** up, what more do you want? My pet peeve are those that are trying to show they are in the military every day. Hell, I have a guy in my Computer Science Ethics class that has worn BDU pants and his actual army PT jacket about eight times out of eight classes.
User avatar #301 to #300 - clannadqs (02/03/2014) [-]
Considering I'm 11B and got a 91 on my ASVAB, the first part wasn't necessary as if you actually did read my comments you would see I've been helping a few out that are shipping in a few months or had general questions about it. Also, people are being way to pedantic about the photos. I admitted last night that it wasn't the best photo to choose as I ****** up. Not everyone is perfect and I didn't see this getting front page so it wasn't as if I did a **** ton of research on the Army regulations before making the content. No matter how you want to justify it you are a boot if you are wearing issued gear and that isn't coming from me, that is coming from people who have been in for years upon years and a few that are retired. Go check out POG boot ***** on facebook to see what I'm talking about.
User avatar #303 to #301 - oxYKellark (02/03/2014) [-]
Well first off thanks for serving, 68W here and congrats you've made everyone at MEPS happy. Personally i don't give a flying **** where you have been (speaking of all veterans) or what you have done no amount of "combat tours" will make me care if you think I'm a boot ass **** . Calling out people is one thing but going after everyone who isn't a 11B and shoveling BS at them is pretty damn POG like behavior. Especially on facebook.
User avatar #304 to #303 - clannadqs (02/03/2014) [-]

In all seriousness, and as many others here have said, PT shorts are fine. I'm out of the Army now, but I've still got a ******** of my military clothing laying around. Why go out and buy running shorts when I already have more pairs than I could possibly use in a week that just happen to have the word "ARMY" stenciled on the front? I run in mine all the time, and if I went to the gym I'd probably wear them there too.

Same 'ere. When I do leg raises, I always tie dumbbells against my feet. Cable crunches are fun and plated sit ups are pretty neat too. The one I personally find most effective are planks but THEY FUKKEN KILL!!!

What's it like as a PT working with your hot female clients?
User avatar #147 to #145 - itepenis (02/03/2014) [-]
I don't normally get hot onesXD I take the ones that need it the most. It doesnt take much to make a skinny girl hot but it takes a lot to mke a fat girl hot. The challenge is nice. Like I hate when girls come in and ask like "how can I make my butt look nice?" Squats bitch did you really need to ask me that? google does my job...
User avatar #149 to #147 - weenieandthebutt (02/03/2014) [-]
It must feel rewarding helping people transform and getting the best out of them. One of my female friends is currently working out where she wants to get a 'bigger bum'. The problem is that she does like multiple squats doing very light weights (which doesn't do much for hypertrophy), she's on a calorie deficit and does the whole ******** 'no carbs after 6' thing. She also has that 'toning mentality'. I have no idea how to persuade her to change her ways slightly without being down-putting..
User avatar #151 to #149 - itepenis (02/03/2014) [-]
Sometimes you gotta be a little rough. Downputting can help. Ive never held back my opinion and I have yet to have an unsatisfied client or gymbuddy as I like to call them.

As far as the military uniform...... it's allowed if worn as a full set (just shirt or shorts is not allowed) however you can buy or get these shorts or shirts for free, and if you honorably discharged you are allowed to keep your work out clothes if you want (otherwise they get thrown away)

Okay i'm just throwing this out there but some of these seem pretty rediculous to get upset over. If a guy is using all the machines in turn then use one they aren't using. If he is using a single machine and there isn't another. You are in a gym use something else. these are things that children complain about. Move on.

What are you talking about? This kid has a reason for using those items and equipment to lift. If you don't have a reason, you are being a pussy because it's actually better for you to squat without a pad and it's been proven that the Smith Machine is bad for you if you use it too much.
User avatar #237 to #226 - lonesomemeheecan (02/03/2014) [-]
I actually recommend using 1/2 your weight for reps when starting out for stabilizers and small twitch fibers, while using the smith machine to build strength at least in the first few months of lifting, just my opinion.
