It's not like you won't know if you'll be subject to a Homeowner's Association before you buy it. The point of them is to ensure that you'll retain property value, and a certain degree of safety in your neighborhood. The downside is you'll have to put up with some ******** . So you just have to weigh that in with the pros and cons before you buy that house.

the assholes in the homeowners association are probably up themselves so hard theyd bitch if you mowed your ******* lawn wrong

mow it vertically or in concentric squares....ah **** no, mow that **** lengthwise so the mowing lines line up with the properties either side of you?

But what do they do about it if youre just lke "no **** you"

well appparently they can hand out fines or civil legal suits on anyone who doesnt obey them,...

and theres ******* around with committees for everything you could possibly want to change....like a committee for building pools, committee for neighborhood watch, etc

and you cant even opt out of it, the HA is set in place by the land developer before the house was even built
and when people move in theyre pretty much forced to pay regular fees for **** like upkeep of common areas, community newslettters posted to them, etc

One of my buddies got his house demolished because the mining company that owned the land wanted it back, so he and his dad are building a new one from scratch. He had to submit his plans to the HA about 4 times, because they kept rejecting them. He wanted to have a two story house similar to the one he had before it was demolished, but they kept saying no because it would be an "eyesore" even though we live in the middle of the damn desert with nothing really to see.
