720p is still "good". 1080p is still "the best". we have 4k now because people like those big numbers, and tv companies are happy to sell them things

We have 4k now because technology gets better and it looks so damn much better than 1080p. Not just because people like Big Numbers. Let me guess, you're one of those "everything new is unnecessary and people just want it cuz it's new" people?

We are gonna reach that point eventually.
I'm already at a point where 1080p is acceptable, and still good to use and that won't change for a while , but not "good" anymore. I have 1080p on my 3 pc screens, my phone, my tablet, etc. My TV is 4k.

720p is definitely not good anymore tho, I don't watch any shows or movies in 720p or below

That's just me anyway, but I guess the better the things we have available are, the higher people's standards are gonna go

I mean, if I got my tv series in 4k I might consider getting a 4k screen but until then 1080 is more than enough. I'll be waiting for at least a year or two before bothering.

Honestly the main reason I got it is because I got it very cheap
450$ for a 42" 4k tv, while others at the same size cost multiple hundreds more
I wasn't a huge fan of 4k either until then, but it was a far better offer than any of the 1080p tv's available and now I just love it, 10/10 wouldn't get a 1080p tv ever again

Depends who you ask. For some, that's been the case since 4k was a thing. For those of us who know it's not safe to sit within a foot of your screen, it doesn't matter.
