It's more an idiom than a saying.

It is a saying but it doesn't really fit.
It's basically saying "I bet that meal will be really funny."
Now unless that stir fry tells knock knock jokes while being eaten, I don't think it'll be very funny. Good pun though.

What does the stir fry say to the chef?
ret me go, I no be dricious
#6 to #5 - crazyolitis (11/11/2013) [-]
Oh... well then, in that case: This content is a riot! **** that was even more awful.

It's not awful, it's a pun. The worse a pun is, the better it is.

No you had it right. Normally, riot just means fun or good in general.

I've never heard it used as "funny," specifically.

the part with tom hanks or the part with the explosion? cause if it's the tom hanks part i'm not 100% sure but i think it's from a movie called "you've got mail" the clip of the explosion is probably from 1 of 100 or more videos about world war 2.

Pussy. Who gives a **** ? The only reason it hurts so much is because people are both surprised by it and expect it to hurt when it does hit them.

Expect it to happen, but not for it to hurt. You'd be surprised how little it hurts then.
#36 to #16 - bkceallaigh (11/12/2013) [-]
The only reason I'm scared of it is because I got hot grease in my eye.

I also don't like it when the toaster goes off. It doesn't make you a pussy...it our natural defense to things that we can't predict...

A pussy is someone that does't cook AT ALL because of it.

Taking precautions over something which neither did nor will do permanent or even moderately lasting damage is just silly imo. Did you get significantly worse vision from that grease in your eye? I doubt it.
User avatar #92 to #38 - ninjason (11/12/2013) [-]
taking precautions to avoid pain is silly? I think your wrong ...
#39 to #38 - bkceallaigh (11/12/2013) [-]
Correct, I didn't cause permanent damage, but it was severely irritated and I got a subconjunctival hemorrhage. I don't want it to happen again, therefore, I'll take extra precautions. It's smart to be aware of things that cause pain, however slight. Grease CAN cause permanent damage. But you know that.

Precaution: a measure taken in advance to prevent something dangerous, unpleasant, or inconvenient from happening.

I've had one as well (from something else) and I still wouldn't find it to be worth wasting the time. Time is more valuable than pain imo. You can always just ignore pain but you can never get back the time.

Also it's just harder to cook **** . And I'm not a patient man. At all. I can't stand cooking on most stoves because they never have high enough settings, and I get frustrated by how long it takes.
#43 to #41 - bkceallaigh (11/12/2013) [-]
It's not really a time-waster. It's more like, being hyper-aware of what's going on.

Protip: Taking the pan off of the heat while flipping it will lower the heat and cause the grease to not pop so much. Using a completely dry pan, that doesn't have any water on it, will also keep initial popping to a minimum. (I'm a wannabe housewife and cooking comes with the job. )

It IS a hassle to not do something just because you're scared. But if we always ignored our senses, and our pain threshold, we wouldn't have gone very far in life. Sometimes extra precautions are great, and in this case, I won't have to deal with the horror of a bloody, creepy eye.

how to cook bacon without fear of grease:
1) heat oven to 375F
2) cover a sheet pan in tinfoil (easy cleanup)
3) put bacon strips on the pan
4) cook in oven for 15-20 minutes
5) eat dat bacon

Yeah, but it still makes you startle so suddenly when it touches your hand.
That's expected for sure, so I think it'd be wiser to wear gloves (and protective googles if you want to be extra careful) instead of making it any more complicated to yourself than that.
