I hated those things so much. I never had much difficulty playing most of the game, but those things always just tore me apart. Their lunge-combo thing would basically one hit me if the whole thing connected.

Jump-attack with a 2-handed weapon (Or sprint-attack with a weapon that had a downward smash, like the Greatsword found in Anor Londo), the impact would stagger them and give you time to finish them with normal hits. It took me several playthroughs to figure this out but afterwards I had no trouble in the Tomb of Giants

DS online in a nutshell
User avatar #157 to #53 - dsgbiohazard (11/14/2013) [-]
I know the gif is only supposed to be a joke and all, but it's just not true...

If you PvP in popular fighting spots, invading/getting invaded and signs, you will get a ton of normal fights. Such as 2 players bowing, buffing, then fighting normally.
User avatar #158 to #157 - dsgbiohazard (11/14/2013) [-]
IDK why I called it a gif, I guess it's because there are a ton of gifs in the comments right now.

"Dark Souls is super hard."
"Dark Souls isn't hard at all."

Dark Souls is progressively easier because of memory and strategy.
Your first time in, with no outside help, you're bound to get annihilated every once in a while.

You misspelled "all the time"

But it really isn't tough once you learn the stupid controls (srsly right bumper to attack? Cmon that's the most stick-prone button on the controller) and figure out where to go.

Seriously though, every other 3rd person fighting game I've ever played has the x (or equivalent position) button to do a light attack of some type.
#302 to #140 - zzRedzz ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
Well, considering Demon Souls was a Playstation exclusive and it had the same controls as Dark Souls, I can understand.

Now the mouse and keyboard controls, that's a different story

You also have to factor in hopeless children born and raised in a gaming age where there aren't any physical challenges in games anymore, the games of today sort of spoon feed everything to you, and if not the case, they turn the difficulty down to "down syndrome"

It's not that it's a bad thing, it's just making softer gamers.
#65 to #64 - zzRedzz ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]
Of course the experience is different for everyone, and most of those kids will quit before they get out of the asylum and won't ever get the chance of the game being 'easy'.
#66 to #65 - insanepain (11/14/2013) [-]
I agree, that's the big issue though, all of the younger groups will "blam" on a game they don't like because it isn't easy "refer to my last comment about soft spoon-fed gamers"

This causes people to dislike a game before they even tried it, and thus, counter-productive.
User avatar #127 to #64 - tkfourtwoone ONLINE (11/14/2013) [-]

physical effort as in you had to keep trying, couldn't get past it. So you physically had to re-try the same sequence over and over. Or you couldn't figure it out.

That sounds more like psychological effort than physical.

Let's just rephrase that to mean "born and raised in a gaming age where games don't require perseverance anymore."

Man, those ghosts hit me for shave in my +5 Paladin set. One of the last places I went in the game, and it was a ******** cake walk.

I was glad for it to be easy, though. Tomb of the giants and Dukes Archives both wrecked me a bit too hard for me to endure another rape fest.

I remember my first time going through New Londo. I was taking out the small groups of ghosts you fight at the beginning. My first thought was, " Really? This far in the game and they are sending me enemies this easy?" Then I got to the house where the key keeper guy is. Stepped in, and dozens of ghosts rose from the ground, came from the ceiling, and emerged through the walls. I was scared, really scared. I tried fighting them off, but they surrounded me. I tried running, but they blocked off all my exits. All I could do was lay in my **** and piss and tears and wait for the nightmare to end. Then, as I lay there, getting shred to pieces, I realized my blunder. I forgot to renew my transient curse. It was bittersweet, to know that my skill wasn't terrible, but to also know that I allowed such a clumsy mistake to go unnoticed. So remember kids, always check your transient curses.

May I ask any strategies to beating Four Kings? He is the last boss I have before Gwyndolin and for some reason I cannot beat him.
User avatar #324 to #240 - zorororonoa (11/15/2013) [-]
If you summoned the witch beatrice for the butterfly fight, you will be able to summon her again for this one. Her summon sign is right of the small bridge before the white light gate and it is behind a pillar like thing. If you are going solo, then your best bet would be to stay close and just keep attacking. Green blossoms help a lot because you run out of stamina quick. I'd also recommend dual-weilding your weapon because you won't be blocking much anyways.
#317 to #240 - magmon (11/14/2013) [-]
Das bum rushes. If you have Power Within, use it. Make sure your defenses are decent, as you will be needing to be able to take a hit or two. Basically, the four negroes only do a decent sum of damage when you are at a distance, so you rush up to them, and just unload hit after hit, ignoring damage, until they die. Keep in mind that I did this in a +5 paladin set at about 22 vit, with a +4 Lighting Zwei. You need to be able to burst them down.

And yeah, all those ghosts swarmed in, and I killed them all in about three weak swings. Das arc.

I actually did this in the circular room with the Dragon-Scale-containing chest at the bottom of Blighttown with a friend who I'd just recently got to try the game out.

I promised him a dance party if he made it. He made it. We partied hard while playing "The Safety Dance" for quite some time. He got invaded while we were dancing. The invader attempted to challenge him to a duel, but we just continued our dancing, giving no ***** . The invader made no further attempt at hostility, and was content to watch.

We could see the ghosts of other players in their worlds who were also dancing.

We'd created a trans-dimensional dance party. I value that achievement more than never having died to the Capra Demon.
