Huge Dark Souls history buff 'ere. In rough order, The Witches of Izalith used their pyromancies to destroy the arch trees in which the ancient dragons lay, and Gwyn used his powerful bolts to peel away at their scales. Seath sensed inevitable defeat, and betrayed his dragonkind, stealing their life crystal, which stole their immortality. Nito released a miasma of death and disease to weaken them, and Gwyn's loyal following of Black Knights are the ones who killed the dragons. In some BK weapon descriptions, it mentions how their weaponry's weight was obvious due to the weight needed to slay dragons. Also, Sif was a loyal summon of Knight Artorias of the Abyss, one of the Four Knights of Gwyn. Any and all questions about Dark Souls, I know, so feel free to ask.
#15 to #12 - paulm ONLINE (10/10/2013) [-]
I'm not sure who finished them all off but how I remember it being (not played Dark Souls in a while so please forgive inaccuracy) was that:
The Witch of Izalith and the Daughter of Chaos created massive firestorms to destroy the arch-trees where the dragons lived;
Then Gravelord Nito sent forward a big wave of disease and filth and **** to kill them;
Gwyn used hi Sunlight Spears to eel off the stone scales of immortality that essentially was keeping the dragons alive;
And Seathe betrayed the dragons and bumped off a couple himself I guess in the process.

I'm sure they all managed to catch a few dragons but I'm not entirely sure who finished it all. Probably Nito had most kills thought, yeah.

Man, some people form emotions about things quickly.

You meet Sif on 3 different occasions as far as I can tell.

1: When fighting the boss. Obviously.
2: In the DLC when rescuing him from the shadows.
3: Summon him for the fight with Dark Manus.

Not once does the game try to make the wolf like able and the same goes every other character in the entire game. Well with the exception of the fire Firekeeper.

She blames herself way to much. She doesn't deserve that but nope, the game gonna play boring ass silent hero and you can't do a thing to change that.

Priscilla is the only other character but for me? Give me your souls and tail, I'm in need of them and because I only met you for like five seconds I'm not gonna have any problem killing you either.

She's one of the few who won't attack you and will actually talk to you.
#27 to #23 - theticklemaster (10/10/2013) [-]
If you know the backstory, then it's kinda sad. Also, it's one thing to kill a wolf, which is a creature that looks like a dog, but when he is low on health and starts to limp, that's just sad...
#29 to #27 - cursesnew (10/10/2013) [-]
Wolf is trying to kill me right away he swings the biggest sword in the game. If you did the DLC before the boss he knows it's you but still wants to fight you and kill you.

I have no sympathy for this monster anymore. At least he's easy.

Also I've read a lot of back story on a lot of characters. There are so many holes that needs to be filled with facts but there just ain't any to fill it with.
#31 to #29 - theticklemaster (10/10/2013) [-]
The reason he's going for you is to protect his mate and saviors' grave. If you do the DLC first, he recognizes you, but as you're still going for Artorias' grave, he will defend it( although he now shows great respect for you).

The plotholes is kinda the charm of the Souls games' lore, and it's up to the single player to find out what is most likely, thus creating a different lore and experience for everyone.
#36 to #31 - randomnoob (10/10/2013) [-]
The way I understood the reason Sif still fought you was to protect you from the Abyss. Sif knew that Artorias challenged and lost to the Abyss, and was thus corrupted. He understands that you want the ring that Sif holds in order to do the same. Fearing that you would lose to the Abyss, Sif fights you, knowing that you can't die due to being cursed with the Dark Sign. That is if you rescued him before fighting him. Otherwise it's as you stated, to protect the grave of his master.
#41 to #36 - theticklemaster (10/10/2013) [-]
Right, I totally forgot about the part of stopping anyone from entering the abyss...Good wolf Sif, only trying to kill you so you won't get killed and corrupted by the abyss.

Image showing what lies at risk if consumed by The Abyss. Don't become corrupted. Listen to Sif, don't get DLC.

If you save Sif before you fight him, then a cutscene happens where he recognizes you and shows regret to have to take up a sword against you. Trust me, they hit you hard in the feels with having to kill an old buddy.
#164 to #160 - cursesnew (10/11/2013) [-]
It doesn't. I know of that scene as well and I did mention it a bit further down.

You barely get to know Sif and then expect most people to care. It's the same when a game starts off by killing off the entire village/family/friend right in the start. I just haven't started to care for these people yet.
User avatar #131 to #4 - vicsix (10/11/2013) [-]
I say sif is the saddest to kill. He's just an innocent creature, misunderstanding of his duty, but protecting his masters grave with his life, as his master would have done for him.

You can play NES and Master system games and older right in your browser on emuparadise, but SNES and above must be downloaded. It's not that hard really. A lot just come in ROM form and can be played immediately from your emulator, just place it in the emulator folder to find it easily and load it up. Playstation ISOs mostly come in .ecm form, so what you do is get unecm from here (

			You need to login to view this link

		), click and drag your .ecm file over unecm.exe and it'll give you either an .img or .bin, either one works. Take that file and any other file that came with the .iso download into your emulator folder, like expsxe, and run that file.

I counted at least ten, and these little pussies are geckos compared to the immortal dragons. The only dragons that werent dead at the age of fire was an albino who betrayed the dragons, and a pussy that went into hiding, the rest are ******* half-bodied zombies. 1. Kamleet was too OP for his armies and no one wanted to back him up, so soloing that mofo wasn't a task he felt like he had to do sense Kamleet was just a peon that had nothing to mate with.
2. The eternal dragon is hidden so ******* well I don't even know how Gwyn could find him, let alone know he existed.
3. Seath was his buddie.
User avatar #139 to #33 - lapsushominum ONLINE (10/11/2013) [-]
What I didn't quite understand was why you can kill Kalameet without lightning bolts to destroy his scales? Or perhaps he is a descendant of the ancient dragons that lacks their scales and thus isn't immortal but still powerful?

Also, as far as the everlasting stone dragon in Ash Lake, it seems rather small. For example, look at the Dragon Tooth weapon. The thing is huge. Even Kalameet and the undead dragons throughout the game are tiny compared to whatever had a full set of THOSE teeth. That dragon could just be a young one for all we know. There could be more out there somewhere.
User avatar #161 to #139 - zaperzero (10/11/2013) [-]
I believe the everlasting (along with all other stone scales) grow larger the stronger they are and it takes souls to become stronger, so he could very well have sunk into a slumber after spending all of his souls on some sort of boost to the trees to make him hard to reach. Remember that Ornstein, Smough, Artorias, and Gwyn are far larger than the chosen undead (or hollows) and that may be due to their high power. Smough wasn't a god, but he was HUGE. Ornstein and Artorias, as well as obviously Gwyn, are spoken of as though they're gods, but Smough isn't obviously. I think gaining souls makes you stronger and if you're stronger you're bigger in dark souls. Thus the Dragon's Tooth, a prize of war, was ripped out by Havel himself from a highly powerful dragon.
User avatar #60 to #33 - satrenkotheone ONLINE (10/11/2013) [-]
This ***** here knows what's up.

Don't forget Gaping but he isn't an original stone scaled dragon and he's in a ******* sewer plus it's corrupted so no one cares about it.. Kalhameet isn't a stone scale dragon I think, but he was still OP as **** so everyone backed out.
User avatar #62 to #60 - zaperzero (10/11/2013) [-]
Yeah. That or they could just not be arsed, given Gough took him out while blind with one hit. From the sky, that is.
User avatar #64 to #62 - satrenkotheone ONLINE (10/11/2013) [-]
I find that a bit odd. "All of the might of Anor Londo couldn't bring him down." then he just gets up and ******* stick this huge arrow into his wing so he can't fly, one would imagine that with Gough at their side plus hundreds of silver knights they could easily kill Kalahmeet.

Oh well, it's Dark Souls.
