German tanks, especially their flag ship vehicles like the Tiger and Panther, were the most unreliable tanks of the major factions of world war 2.

You'd choose Hitler and get sent to the eastern front to be slaughtered.

Besides the M14, they were well built vehicles. My guess it's because they weren't built by slave labor Jews.

After Italy surrendered Germany captured many Italian tanks to use, and they were quite effective for being heavily outnumbered.

True, but the top Tank Aces of Germany used German made tanks, quite simply the german tanks were better armed, armoured, and greater range than the allied tanks. The top German tank aces got 130+ tanks killed, whilst the top allied ace, Dmitriy Lavrinenko destroyed something between 52-57 tanks.

You say the German tanks were unreliable, but the where honestly the deadliest tanks of the war for the allies. As it comes to the German armored defeat on the western front it was primarily due to the allied Fighter Bombers, low fuel, and ammunition supplies. Not typically mechanical failures.

The real issue was when something went wrong it was difficult to fix whilst the Allied armour wasn't. But there is no doubt that the Germans had generally superior armored units. Hell the most powerful gun on a rotating turret was the german 88 mm, not the allied 120 mm.

Literally every world war 2 historian stresses how the reliability of the Sherman was the sole reason it won the war.

German tanks were too focused on armor that they completely failed to compromise with better engines, exhaust systems, tracks. they were very good gun emplacements, not very good tanks.

But literally every veteran stresses how much they were "rolling coffins". The biggest factor wasn't the reliability of tanks for the allies but their carefully planned destruction of German Airforce, Supplies, and German Military Industry.

There are different versions for paratroopers and tank crew.

All beneath is a speculation about if germany would not have to think over transporting all off their equipment over seas.

Nazi germany. American tanks sucked ass untill they started producing the m4 sherman, which was good enough, untill 1941. Before that they had M3 and M2 tankseries, which where not that good.

Although german tanks werent good either in 1940. The long 75mm cannon was first added during/after(???) operation barbarossa (1941). So the main attack force would probably consist of PzIV ausf C to ausf E and their main medium tannk the Pz III and its derivatives. The skoda Pz 38 (t) would probably also have seen combat, given that germany could get its gear over the great pond.
