It's no where near certain one or two gunshots is going to bring the cops in. It's far more likely it'd be ignored or that no one would even hear it well enough to identify it.

NYC resident here. 4 of 5 porch monkeys have been apprehended, and the community is calling for the 5th to turn himself in and or have their family members provide info on them.

For people talking about guns... It is almost impossible in NY to get a carry permit unless it is a premise permit for a business, even then, good luck. NYC isn't even really issuing target permits anymore. The police have basically been told to observe and not be proactive (Not in this situation, just in general.) The mayor hasn't done much to help and in many cases has made it harder for the police to do their job. We (as gun owners) are pretty much vilified within NYC. I own rifles for hunting and we get **** all the time, mostly from yuppies and liberal douchebags that get pissed because people hunt. I want to get my pistol permit for range purposes but the process is so drawn out and absurd its not even worth it anymore.

Leaving and calling the police. There is no way to stop it from happening and making the situation worse isn't going to help anyone. There is no good end to this situation, but there are ones that are worse than others, and as her father, it's your responsibility to shoulder the burden, make the best possible decisions in a horrible situation, and deal with the inevitable, terrible consequences. This idea that you would stop at nothing to stop the rape from occurring is incredibly selfish and is, in the end, more for your benefit than your daughter's.

Sorry I really can't take what you're saying as serious any more. Calling the cops is a good idea for this situation sure, but you're still just letting the rape happen which is more for your benefit than it is for hers. You would be a coward who lets his daughter get raped while doing the minimum possible to make it look like you tried to prevent it to save some face. In this situation assuming I had a phone on me, I'd dial 911 in my pocket and leave it on while I try to hold them off or reason with them, anything to buy time, so my daughter doesn't get raped. Just leaving and calling the cops isn't ******* good enough. A chance to prevent it however small, is better than allowing it to happen.
Our opinions on this are completely irreconcilable.

It's selfish because you're considering your well-being (mental/emotional, not physical) above hers. You're saying to yourself that it's more important to you that you feel you did something to stop it than it is that you minimized the harm done to your daughter. Your absolute refusal to acknowledge your own helplessness in this situation is simply further proof of this.

Doing all you reasonably can isn't enough for you not to feel badly about yourself, so you act in a way that has next to a 0% chance of preventing your daughter's rape and guarantees your daughter's experience and later life is made even worse because she's 1) forced to watch her father die in front of her, 2) probably going to be treated even more violently by the now more hyped up and violent assaulters, 3) is most likely going to be killed afterwards instead of let go, and 4) even if she is allowed to live now has to live without a father and probably with an extreme sense of guilt.

That is probably the best option there than being killed to death and bleed out watching your daughter get kaboosed by the underground railroad.

Yes any loving father would do his best to defend his daughter but it really depends on fight or flight responses. And yes, I acknowledge that all of the emotions going through your head about heads going into your daughter will not make you think straight or have absolute clarity like Liam Neeson, but obviously all of these guys arent Liam Neesom.

As you can tell I am not a father of any kind, but I still understand that these men are willing to do anything for their kids. Do you honestly think he didnt want to be Batman and whoop all of their asses and save the day from the bad guys?
