As Shaolin monks believe the strength comes only from the mind, there are almost no limits to what can be done with their bodies during the trainings. They practice techniques centered around balance, strength, endurance, and self defense. They can endure incredible amounts of pain while barely flinching. The design and arrangements of their movements are based on the medical knowledge of ancient China and conforms to the rule of movement of the human body.
They believe that what their bodies can endure is symptomatic of the strength of their souls and minds.

This has a sort of Three Stooges quality about it. Dude on the right definitely has a "nyuck" or three bouncing around inside his head, yearning for escape.

I'm not entirely sure but I think the distortion is caused by the photographer using a wide angle lens, which often slightly warps the edges causing the waterfall to look strange. Like when you see GoPro cam videos, they are distorted at the edges from the wide angle they use to capture a larger field of vision.

I think.

Do you think they take recruits or something? Is it possible to train under them somehow?

You can still be a monk, they have to "evaluate" you and what not, though.

Yes, you can journey to the Shaolin Temple and ask to join, as long as you do not bring any materialistic possessions in then you can train, however, if you disobey them you will be kicked out. But yeah you can go and live with them at no cost apart from travel and what not

I believe you need to have proof you're Buddhist, but otherwise you can get in. I've highly considered training for a few years with them.

I think you have to start at a young age, bout 9 years old because they believe a 9 year old body is perfect for them since they're not fully developed meaning they can stretch and do hood rat **** .

They use the airbenders outfit but they have a drill that is so firebending... And firebending was inspired in their forms while ba gua/capoeira are used for airbending

Still, that's mental.

I may start a stupid ********* , but i want to know opinions upon the always hot "MMA Fighter VS Shaolin Monk".

Now, i' talking a REAL Shaolin Monk, not someone who studied Shaolin Kung Fu.
#74 to #31 - narutolas ONLINE (08/05/2014) [-]
A fight isn't just about dealing a ton of damage to the opponent. I feel that a Shaolin monk has more mastery of endurance, damage mitigation, strategy, and overall knowledge and awareness of what the human body can and can't stand. Thus, I feel like it would look a lot like in the beginning of Sherlock Holmes where Robert Downey Jr plans and executes the neutralization of his giant competitor in the underground fight club
#45 to #31 - John Cena (08/05/2014) [-]
shoalin monks lose on simple body types you throw 130 kilos of anything agaisnt 72 kilos you know who wins

User avatar #35 to #31 - Kairyuka ONLINE (08/05/2014) [-]
I believe most shaolin monks are more dedicated to their trade than most MMA fighters are. With that said though, the old saying goes "There is no superior fighting style, only superior fighters". But I doubt shaolin monks would want to do an MMA fight to begin with
#33 to #31 - funnyjunkyeahyeah (08/05/2014) [-]
Hard to say. MMA is more dedicated to fighting than shaolin, but I would bet that the shaolin are more dedicated to their art than MMA fighters.

Would probably come down to the individuals.
