When children aren't allowed to work, they either turn to prostitution or they starve.
Due to the lack of capital in some economies, only two parents working simply isn't enough to support a family.
Every advanced economy had to go through this stage of economic development at some point. When you don't buy their stuff, they can't invest in more capital and move on to a society where children no longer have to work.

Cummon man, it has been a culmination, starting with FDR if you want to see where executive agencies became overbearing, then Clinton with NAFTA and loosening tariffs on the service industry, allowing them to ship those jobs overseas. All Reagan really did was lessen the tax burden.

Looks like a major switch seems pretty viable now. Im only doing core classes this 1st semester, so no harm done by switching.

The reason i ask about programming, is because i can't do it for **** . While taking 2 years trying to learn java in high school, I was completely lost after he introduced arrays.
User avatar #79 to #78 - tealcanaan ONLINE (07/23/2014) [-]
Programming never troubled me to much ME has to do 6 hour for some reason and they added ******* circuits this year too . It just takes practice, honestly in high school you don't do much out of class in college it is highly recommended to practice a lot at home. Did y'all do any loops or anything, or just loops. You do do basic "programming" with matlab in an intro class usually, it is very good at introducing loops arrays and all the basic concepts of programming on a math based (easy to understand) language.
#80 to #79 - garymotherfingoak ONLINE (07/23/2014) [-]
yea, the teacher had an affair with while loops.

By math based, you mean learn how to take your calculus 7 final, input it into a hadron collider, and calculate the mass of the sun through that.

Cuz that what it FELT LIKE!

HTML was surprisingly easy compared to Java though, but still hard.

I would still think that would be Clinton completely destroying job barriers, and the unions sucking the companies dry in s lot of cases, I mean where do you think all those sweet industrial jobs went, I mean we still have some, but not nearly as much as before he signed those bills in his first two terms. Reagan was mostly bad for the government budget, hacking a lot of the revenue away without streamlining public agencies. I mean I don't want to be paying over half my wages away in the near future.
User avatar #60 to #59 - garymotherfingoak ONLINE (07/23/2014) [-]
I haven't looked too much into that, or Clinton himself. I mostly know him for his work on the budget and that affair ********* , where every senator hugged the left and right wings for dear life.
User avatar #61 to #60 - tealcanaan ONLINE (07/23/2014) [-]
Ya, he only had policy ability his first two years, east asia tariff removal and NAFTA (big business loved that), then both houses were controlled by the republicans. He mostly rode on Bush Sr.'s (decent policy maker IMO) economic policy and the internet bubble (which popped hard) then had his agencies set up the god forsaken housing bubble. He is good for streamlining the bureaucracy (public workers hated him, **** those assholes). Most people remember him fondly because he was a peace time president (lol "peace", Kosovo, Africa). And the job market was decent.

I would cry if Hillary gets elected ;_;

Well he is actively filing suit continually against all parts of the Patriot act, especially the spying on U.S. citizens, I know you will like that. He is more a libertarian than conservative. He is an anti-interventionist, unlike Hillary. He is for streamline the bureaucracy, and lessening the taxes on the middle class, good for me m8. Also he is a great speaker and would be an amiable representative to the world. But even if Hillary has **** policy, she could win because of "muh first female president", which I could see happen with the average politic sense of today's identity politics focused voters. She would be a horrible president IMO, good thing it is very likely that the republicans will continue to dominate the house, and probably the senate this coming November (lol at all those MSNBC acts to distance democrats from Obama)

hot damn, sign me up!

one thing im worried about though is... is the media deliberately ignoring one candidate an actual occurrence, such as Romney over Ron, or is that just a myth, and if not, could that occur when the primaries are finished, and its between Hillary and Rand?

It is quite possible in the primaries, that is indeed what happened with Ron unfortunately ;_; He was the hero we needed . But Rand is really popular with the people at CNN and Fox, I mean of course MSNBC will shill hard for any democrat, biased ***** , they are actually worse than ******* Fox man, that is just bad. It is impossible for it to happen in the regular campaigns though, plus Rand will have plenty monetary of backers. They are both **** tier news too me, I get most of my news from Reuters anyway. Also check around for other majors besides IT, Obama has been issuing H1B visas like crazy because of the "stem shortage", utter bs IMO, they just give big companies an excuse to hire people from India who will wok for half the wage and inability to switch companies. IT is the industry hit hardest by this, because Chinese and Indian engineers are literally incapable of working for American companies, they hand out ******* degrees. If I were you, I would look at Computer Engineering, combines both Software and Hardware repair, and the pay is ******* amazing because no one is doing it. I was honestly looking into switching to it for a while, but I love ME, especially after this first internship, plus all engineers get great payed internships. Just to give you a heads up.

Not too bad, I think it's like 9 credit hours, depends on the university. You choose a specialty when going to work, and hardware gets paid the best. I am still thinking about it now, I mean ME has 2% unemployment, and I'm pretty much guaranteed a job at my internship (maintenance and repair for natural gas company). But CE is god tier pay and extremely low unemployment if you are willing to move, I would recommend Texas for any engineering, low taxes and booming industry.

why should we pay more for twice the workers right?

Also, think about it like this.

In places like Africa for instance, where they live at the corner of Malaria Blvd and AIDS Ave, work and money have different meanings.

Would you rather not work and starve
or
Work for a full day for $1, and that $1 is enough to buy bread for the day so you don't starve.

Sure compared to our incredibly cushy first world lifestyle that might seem barbarian, but there's no real infrastructure in these places, and introducing too much money too quickly will cause a big problem than taking baby steps.

I don't even own an iPad and I really dislike that image. Bill Gates wasn't even the first person that introduced the idea of tablets. The first commercially available touchscreen tablet PC was the GRiDPad in 1989, which was so successful that it was used in the US Army for a time, so I wouldn't say no one cared about the idea of tablets in prior.

Apple also had launched a tablet-based computer before Microsoft in 1993 called the Apple Newton, beginning development in 1987, so they didn't steal the idea from Gates like what people think. The Newton project did die however for most of the same reasons most of the other tablets generally failed at - offering a type of portability and performance that would make you want to use it over a standard laptop.

When the iPad was first announced, it had really mixed reviews, including the lot of people who mocked it, calling it a an iPhone for people with fat fingers, so it definitely wasn't as hyped as what the image is making it out to be. What made it so successful was that it was a tablet that finally had a friendly UI (albeit strict system customization compared to Android devices today), a good amount of speed, a much larger range of application support, low weight, high portability, and a modest price tag [at the time anyways, since earlier tablets (including Microsoft's Tablet PC) were easily over $1000].

I don't believe the Surface was a stolen idea like what people uneducated in the history of tablets think, they merely started bringing their development of tablets to life again after seeing the huge tablet market Apple made with the iPad.

Do I believe Apple is the best company ever? Hell no, but I do believe they at least deserve some credit for making an impact on the tablet and smartphone market to what it is today. I don't care if you dislike or joke about them (I like some of the original jokes), but at least don't make ******** facts.

How? The Tablet PC didn't sell well because it had too many problems that were unresolved like the high price, low performance, and little developer support for applications to name a few, while the Game Boy was the highest-selling handheld portable console on the market at its time with a reasonable price and high-quality games.
User avatar #50 to #31 - erpi (07/22/2014) [-]
Because it was new and needed lots of improvements before it could become what it is today.
A gameboy can't come near the performance of say a PSP or WiiU, but without the gameboy, there wouldn't be a PSP or WiiU in the first place.

Note the 8 years it took apple to get it right. They had 8 years worth of tech to make it better. If you know anything about Moore's law, then you"ll know that the apple tablet has proccessors with 512 times more transistors then the first windows tablet.
#54 to #50 - imagebandetector (07/22/2014) [-]
As I explained in comment 42, Gates wasn't revolutionizing anything with the Tablet PC, as he wasn't the first guy to come up with the tablet by a long shot. It wasn't good for its time, and newer models didn't fix its problems, which is why it wasn't popular.

The Game Boy made a leap forward in handheld gaming because while it wasn't the first handheld system with interchangeable cartridges, it had a low price, a huge battery life, and a wide selection of games (including Tetris pre-packaged with it). It did well for its time and created a huge market, which are the key differences between the Game Boy and the Tablet PC.
