I read this story out of a horror story book. It was the same story besides some other occurrences.

How my story went, The second man in the bed began to feel jealous of the man next to the window. He envied the view this man would get to see every day. So he began to wish for the first man's death. Then, one night, the second man reached over and smothered the second with a pillow while he was weak and asleep.

Once the body was taken away, the second man asked the nurse to switch beds. She allowed it. Then as he looked out the window in excitement, he saw a brick wall of a nearby building. The story ended with him crying.

Ironic ending, but i liked it. This story is more of an inspirational version I guess.

I read an ending similar to that. The way it ended was one night, the man next to the window began choking on the fluid in his lungs and couldn't get to his call button and the jealous man did nothing and let him die to get to the window.

Jokes on that ************ when he sees nothing but a wall.... huehuehue

3rd ending, the man near the window started coughing because of fluid buildup, the other man just watched never called the nurses and let him die because of said window envy.

It was in one of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books, but it was heart pills if I remember correctly (which I probably don't). It's been retold a bunch of times.

Absolutely the most terrifying illustrations in childrens book history. Shame about their being re released with toned down artwork, though.
