I saw that one first thinking it was the first episode of season 3, the other two just weren't as intense unfortunately after that but I'm overall glad there will be a fourth
User avatar #35 to #34 - frankwest (01/28/2014) [-]
I am also really glad. And that sounds like it really sucks. The other two are major build ups to the third episode.

yeah i was really confused about his wife and him revealing himself being alive by being an undercover ( or not so undercover) addict. Molly's reaction to him after that made it believable at first that it truly was the first episode to me, but over all the series compared to the first two seemed like one long one
User avatar #38 to #37 - frankwest (01/28/2014) [-]
I agree. I would have been confused as **** if I saw the third episode first.

User avatar #83 to #42 - Loppytaffy (01/28/2014) [-]
Told from the diaries (and therefore narrative) of Watson: Private Detective Sherlock Holmes, who lives as a bachelor at 221B Baker street, formerly with his dear friend Doctor John Watson (though I swear at one point it was James), solves cases that the police cannot, or those that seem to have no appeal, more often than not stumbling upon a singular adventure of which the world would never believe.

He smokes opium and snorts snuff, he drinks all the time and seldom eats, he has no restraint in calling a person stupid or pointing out their flaws. He also knows how to beat **** out of a person and doesn't oppose crimes like trespass and assault in getting to the bottom of a mystery.

Think Supernatural, without the ghosts and demons. And instead of an Impala, it's a terrace house in the middle of London.
User avatar #105 to #83 - daentraya (01/28/2014) [-]
sounds like a cool guy eh, smokes opium and doesnt afraid of anything
User avatar #108 to #105 - Loppytaffy (01/28/2014) [-]
He's a bit of a prick. He's made to seem intelligent for noticing things that the author fails to mention. I'm sure if it were described, then the reader could world it out in time with Holmes.
The last two stories I figured out before Holmes, and the one before that I figured out before Watson. Once you get into them and learn Doyle's writing style an dhow he likes his plot twists, it's pretty easy to work out; the innocent never are, the guitly never are, crimes never are, and someone with a specific description is in disguise. Only things that are written in detail are important to th story.
User avatar #109 to #108 - daentraya (01/28/2014) [-]

You just have to keep in mind, that nothing on Sherlock is accidental.
Meaning even the random people you see in the beginning of the episode often are major plot-points in the end.

Other than that:
Sherlock gets some kind of case - Sherlock things hard about that case - Sherlock does some mumbly-jumbly-magic-castle-in-his-mind-thinking and knows the answer - Action scene - Bad guy is caught - Sherlock explains everything in awfull detail and you feel stupid for not realising it earlier.

Mostly there are two stories developed in every episode, which are parallel and in the end, they are revealed to be intertwined and **** .

It's good. You should watch it.
As I said, everything is always explained later. In flashbacks and stuff; Generally easy to understand.

#57 to #47 - funnychunk (01/28/2014) [-]
Well, you don't really notice that procedure while you watch the episode. It's directed and acted really great. No CSI/ ********* .

And the modern times are really well implemented, too.

Although I fiound the plot in the whole first season a little... shallow. But that's just my opinion. Give it a try!
User avatar #69 to #57 - daentraya (01/28/2014) [-]
That i will. Some shows must have done something to earn their hype, and it sounds interesting. I just found it on netflix, tried watching it and was thrown off and confused, but i will take it in stride
User avatar #60 to #42 - itrooztrooperdown ONLINE (01/28/2014) [-]
It is basically the Homles books ported to a modern day where the Holmes books were never actually published.

It is funny to see how they manage to rework the storylines to make them fit to modern times, really good series imho, I'd suggest watching from series 1 episode 1... each episode is like a feature film long so... Also, I'm not sure but I think the series counts on the fact that most viewers know the story.... + it has good cinematography, good acting, and it is well directed, but again, it is my opinion...
User avatar #70 to #60 - daentraya (01/28/2014) [-]
Sounds like its quite unique compared to other reworks of Sherlock Holmes, that often rely on silly little things. It'll be nice to have something like this filling out the massive gap of space that the 74 episode long Monster anime gave, and now i want more crime solving and then hope finishing the seasons wont leave a larger gap while i cry out and wait for a new season to fill it up again. the perpetual cycle of entertainment
