The point of a squat is to work your glutes, hamstrings and such, not your calves. Lifting your heels will force you to work your calves as well. Some see this as a good thing, I'm just anal about form :/

I can't actually keep my heels on the ground. I try repeatedly but it just doesn't work like that for me. I also at times unconsciously walk on my tip toes. I'm pretty sure I ****** my legs up somehow from walking on my tip toes too much as a child.

I doubt anyone will actually do these, but let me first warn you... DON'T LEAN FORWARD WHEN DOING SQUATS. That picture shows the heels off the ground, don't do that. 1. It throws off form and 2. you're likely to fall if you actually use heavier weights.
