I prefer Civ to any of the Total War games.

Have you tried Crusader Kings II, or another Paradox Interactive game? I was previously a huge fan of the Civ series, and I logged countless hours on them - but now I'm hooked on these games, I feel like they're a bit like Civ - but with more attention to detail. Highly recommend them

Civ and Total War gives two different experiences really as well, so I think it's hard to compare them.

You. I like you.

They provide different experiences. If you want a game where you need to focus on managing cities, Civ is for you. If you want to be a warlord and test your military strategy knowledge, go for Total War. They both have good and bad sides to them, but I like both series.

Ever since Rome total War 1, every following Total War game has been a bit of a disapointment.

I like them both; I like how in Total War I can win a battle despite being massively outnumbered or lose a battle that is a sure win based on my acts whereas in Civ you have no control on the battle outcome once it starts. I like in Civ how there is more overall strategy, trading, the different ages, etc.

thats because civ is better

CIV is definitely more user friendly.

I love that you guys are saying that just as I am torrenting it now.

Would you recommend purchasing it for online play?
User avatar #180 to #50 - poptartmunch ONLINE (12/30/2013) [-]
I had torrented it before, but decided to buy it on steam after a while. Got both expansions too. I don't regret it at all. Playing against AI all the time can get boring, since they don't make very good choices (obviously depends on difficulty, but still). With players, you never really know what will happen, which is thrilling!

Well I just got a steam account if you wanna toss a penny in my cup... (same as my username if you don't mind my begging)

Civ 5 is only 15$. Not able to afford that yet? I know I was pretty damn broke after I got my pc
User avatar #344 to #342 - captainrattrap (12/31/2013) [-]
Well I have 13 bucks left on my account, and some cash as well as an emergency account. But school starts soon and 15 bucks could be the breakpoint in my individual situation.
User avatar #346 to #344 - poptartmunch ONLINE (12/31/2013) [-]
I can send you 2$ if that's all you need. lol
User avatar #64 to #50 - theism ONLINE (12/30/2013) [-]
Probably. The AI gets obnoxious to play against after a while. They're too stupid.
