It depends on the species. Though the ones that do don't usually stop at the head, and it's not because it increases the odds of a successful fertilization, as with the mantis. Lady spiders are just dicks like that.

Look up "spider bridal veil." If you just get a bunch of stuff about human wedding things made with silk, try adding "Xysticus."

That's Praying mantis's I believe. Spiders vary a bit, but usually sex does not end well for male spiders. they either become food for babies or for the lady spider. I forget which ones don't do that but there are some...

basically my thoughts every time i hear the superpower "super/enhanced instincts"

oh cool, combat instincts and stuffs. how about sexual instincts, parental instincts, protective, make a home, find steady food and water stores plus a ******* of other instincts. got those on 11 too?

i mean, i think it could be awesome. a guy or girl with ultra instincts would just intuitively know how to be healthy to a peak degree. they would be able to figure out a good place to live, how to get a good living. they would be awesome at fighting gangs since they know all about pack/mob mentality and how to intimidate and establish dominance. and then the problems. wanting to find the optimal mate to procreate with. maybe a complete NEED to control their "territory". maybe wanting a strong pack of their own and more or less accidentally becoming a mob boss since they are a natural at it.

yes, i may have had this thought in my head for a while.

Actually female spiders are generally stronger than male spiders, and sometimes bigger, maybe that's what he was using.
Thinking about a lot of females in the insect/arachnid kingdom are stronger than the males, and sometimes bigger.

Maybe Peter don't want to boink her because he thinks she's going to try and kill him afterwards, like a lot of spiders do.

It's entirely possible that, since she seems to be cooler with the close proximity ********* "problem," she's just more in-tune with her inner Spidey?

Keep in mind, Spiderman is a mythos where people tend to either have animal-themed powers or style themselves after animals, and the in-universe explanation for that is that there are totemic forces that represent every animal that cosmically engineer this phenomenon. The Spiderman mythos even has vampires that can only feed off of people who possess this totemic energy. There's also a guy who literally has the exact same powers as Spiderman except he was given them through magic. Given all of that mumbo-jumbo, don't you think it might be possible for a spider-person to be inexplicably stronger than Peter? Just because?

In any case, let's not go into an MRA neckbeard-rage just because weird animal-related superpower **** happens in a Spiderman comic, okay?

Eh? You misunderstand. Spiderman still got his powers from a radioactive spider bite. The animal totem spirit world thing is a separate, more nebulous, mystical side of the Spiderman mythos, and has more to do with Spiderman's place in the cosmos and destiny than anything else. But, at the same time, Spiderman is connected to the spider totem, so the totem vampires can feed on his life force. There's an awesome novel by Jim Butcher where some totem vampires show up and Spiderman teams up with Rhino, who they can also feed on, in order to beat them. You could also read Amazing Spiderman #30 and onward for the story of the original such totem vampire, Morlun.

Read the novel. Spider-Man: The Darkest Hours. As I said, it's written by Jim Butcher, who isn't a Marvel writer. If you're not familiar, he writes the very excellent Dresden Files series.

Spiders don't have "sexual cannibalism", they're just cannibalistic all the time. Some spiders will eat their willing mother when they are old enough to make them stronger, and some male spiders (black widows) fling themselves into the mouths of the female so that they get as much time as possible to mate with her and produce the largest amount of offspring (male spider genitalia is in their fang). They don't eat the other because they're mating, they just eat them because they're there.
