When I was 8 or 9 my great grandmother had just died, and I asked my dad after the funeral, where she was now. He told me she was in heaven with God. I spent what must have been half an hour, yelling at the sky waiting for an answer from her when we got home. When it never came, I went back inside and had waffles. This is how I stopped believing in God.

Hate to ruin it for you but The Bible says: “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:5; Psalm 146:4) Therefore, when we die, we cease to exist. The dead can’t think, act, or feel anything.

User avatar #39 to #7 - kentravyon (02/16/2014) [-]
That's just the definition of synergy... it's not locked into just businesses
although it is something that businesses in particular strive for, because synergy is efficient., Also if i'm not mistaken it's more common for businesses to try and achieve synergy between their employees then with other businesses. (Try and manage things so that two employees can work together to produce the work of three on their own --> consider assembly line)

I just want to say..

As a christian. These people who blindly follow the bible are morons. Did the jews REALLY walk around in the desert for 40 years? Did blowing horns around a city's walls REALLY have the power to make them crumble? Probably not. I understand that the Bible has stories that are probably false, or over-exaggerated (i.e. Revelations).

I don't REALLY believe that a creature with 7 heads will appear. Most of it is a metaphor anyways. What I do believe is the morals and underlying theme that one should lead a good life, be good-> do good. And hope God sees that fit. The bible is just a collection of stories anyways, they are not laws. You can derive ideas and morals FROM them, sure. But for goodness sake, don't believe every word..

For all you idiots trying to prove that 2+2=5 in some ass-backwards retarded way, I'd probably go straight for it being a base 10 logarithm, also known as decibels, or dB like the way humans perceive sound and a bunch of other stuff.
Since decibels are ratios, adding two of the same number together is an increase of 3.
10+10=13
100+100=103
0+0=3
And 2+2=5.

That's exactly the kind of **** that makes people laugh at America. We have the highest rate of rejection of science in favor of this ******** and it's just plain depressing.
I'm not saying belief is bad here, I'm saying subverting fact, or supported theory, with faith is wrong.

You know, I've always wondered, if the average religion person professes love and other positive things for other human beings, why can't just they show it, spread it and teach it leaving god aside?
User avatar #269 to #268 - asheskirata (02/17/2014) [-]
Well, in my experience with most Southern Christians, it's because they're taught as children that love and peace can't exist without God being in someone's life.

I've seen this in plenty of places: Truth + God = Life, but Life - God = Truth.

Well, in a lot of senses that would be true, but the way I see it is: If God, or Gods, didn't exist, then something just as ridiculous, and possibly worse, would take their place.
User avatar #277 to #269 - cosmicapprentice (02/17/2014) [-]
There still would be deities, yes. I'm an atheist more non-believer/iconoclast/cynically blasphemous person. But damn, I do leave behind my introversion and apathy when it comes down to showing that one can do good and care about other people and not necessarily believe in a god or gods. I used to take in a a food not bombs group, we would go every Saturday to a place where there were a lot of hobos and just give them veggie/vegan food for free, lots of food actually, we would refill their dishes too if they wanted more. And believe me, a lot of people (no hobos) would get close and ask "Hey you're a christian group aren't you?" and I would just answer "No miss/sir, actually, most of us are atheists (only one of us was a christian), and we were like twelve to fifteen people" and they would be like "Then why are you doing this?!" I would tell them something along the lines of "Because we wanted to show initiative, something that the vast majority of people in this town don't do" and they would just stare at me thinking what I just said while I was serving food and then proceed to leave. Those were good times, but I left because of some disputes that I had with some of the members of the group.
User avatar #278 to #277 - asheskirata (02/17/2014) [-]
I've been a part of several charities in my life and most, if not all, were non-religiously affiliated. The thing is, in America, Christians are the only good people. If you aren't Christian, you aren't good. End of story.

I say that satirically of course, seeing as I'll be called a neckbearded, fedora wearing faggot for having an opinion that paints religion in a bad light.
Personally, I dislike how atheists have all these stigmata attached to them saying we aren't good and can't be good just because we have no God, and we're all cynical assholes who want to ruin everyone else's day.
User avatar #279 to #278 - cosmicapprentice (02/17/2014) [-]
I do believe there's only evil and hatred in the human race (not saying that what I think is correct). But I also think that you can make positive changes in other people's life throughout your life, I prefer helping people with whatever they have trouble with than showing my negative point of views and the negative side of my persona, that's something that I leave just to myself and meditate alone.
User avatar #280 to #279 - asheskirata (02/17/2014) [-]
That right there is "good", so there's not only evil and hatred inside of you.

just going to throw this out there. midwest is not as developed as costal states-this doesnt explain the shameful results, not entirely- but its a factor. and the south is just the south.
#16 to #15 - subtard (02/16/2014) [-]
I posted both pictures mainly just to show the south being the south. And it being the reason why the world hates America.
It's annoying living in a civilized part of the country and dealing with all the stereotypes that the south brings.
#180 to #16 - anon (02/17/2014) [-]
I live in the south and i can completely assure you its nothing close to as bad as these maps or stereotypes you believe show.
#183 to #180 - anon (02/17/2014) [-]
The majority of the south is as civilized as any other part of the rest of america, only with more rural areas. Its only the more mountainous or deep wooded areas of the south where people act like the stereotypes, and they're a very small percentage of our population.

You should be less willing to judge a large population of people over some maps you found on google.
