Get into ONE fight, even if it's one person against 5, EVERYONE in the fight gets expelled. So yeah don't defend yourself.
User avatar #177 to #20 - elcreepo (08/29/2014) [-]
Instant lawsuits would happen if that occurred in my area. Self defense is a right, and even though the school is acting in loco parentis expelling someone for protecting themselves in a life or death situation is a crime.

It helps that there are functional cameras everywhere that catch every moment... if someone is lunging at you with a bat and you deliver a swift roundhouse to the face the defense can then claim and win nearly instantly a claim of self defense.

if you are getting attacked, school officials will usually assume you are atleast part of the problem. even if you just sat there and did nothing, they would still suspend or expel you. and while its not very fair, they are often not wrong.

In my school you get suspended for blocking. Their logic is that when you raise your arms, you're threatening the person and intentionally making contact.

Something even more unfair happend to me,

3 "classmates" fought against me, i hit one back

As punishment i had to go to the school psychologist because it seems like i have a anger problem

Consensual sex.

Well not exactly but they have so many PSAs put up by SJWs that define sexual assault as basically anything but signing a contract saying "yes I will have sex with you".
User avatar #778 to #9 - nigeltheoutlaw (08/30/2014) [-]
That's always been my terror. The first time I had sex with the second girl I'd ever had sex with her, I asked her very clearly: "may I have sex with you now?" We had a good laugh and she said that I already got her naked and do whatever I wanted, but a guy has to cover his ass now. Apparently willingly getting naked and spreading your legs is not longer a good indication that a girl wants sex. Though in hindsight maybe I should draft up a contract for future liaisons...

Actually, I remember an article about a mom suggesting that all college students text the other person before sex, effectively saying "Yes, I am of sound mind and agree to have sex with you" and several lawyers came forward and said it wouldn't hold up in court because consent can change mid-intercourse.

I'm a senior at a 1a high school in North Carolina currently. Here's a list of some of the things my school does not allow.
- Phones, understandable but still annoying.
- Food/Drinks outside of the cafeteria, even though we have drink machines.
- Yoga pants.
- Tank tops/wife beaters/anything without sleeves, for girls and guys.
- Skirts/Short shorts. Can't be more than 2 inches above the knee.
- Tight pants, unless they have back pockets. Fake pockets (some pants look like they have pockets, but they don't) don't count.
- Anything that's used to play music (some teachers used to let students listen to music while working, not anymore.)
- Headphones/Earbuds, I used to have my earbuds hanging around my neck all the time, because they always got tangled up in my pocket, now the teachers take earbuds on sight, usually without warning.
- Doing homework in other classes. Understandable if you're supposed to be working on something else, but if I'm done with all my work and I have work due in my next class that I haven't done yet.. I wanna do it.
- Doing homework in homeroom. This one is by far the dumbest one in my opinion. At my school we have 4 periods, each is 90 minutes. After first period we have homeroom for 20-25 minutes, where we do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. If I have work to do and I'm not doing anything else, I'm gonna do that work.
- Reading. No joke, yesterday I was in my Advanced Functions class and I finished all my work, I had nothing else to do, so I started to read in my book. The teacher took my book from me and didn't give it back until the end of the day. Same thing happened to a friend of mine in Bio, and another friend of mine in American History. I heard the Chemistry teacher sent a kid to ISS for reading when he was supposed to be working. The only class I'm allowed to read in is my English class and I hardly have time to read in there, we're always doing something.
There are probably more, but I'm pretty much out of remaining characters.

Most of that stuff here, I got told that I couldn't have sunglasses on my head, they weren't even over my ******* eyes just on my head, lifted up. Leggings for girls aren't allowed though I'm half-tempted to be a smartass about it and go with a friend and wear leggings (though I'll never actually do it). I'm a senior at a high school in japan (american, dodea) but last year I was in North Carolina, actually not bad there, they just didn't seem to care unless there was a possibility of it actually being detrimental.
But goddamn the day we have to wear school uniforms (rotc doesn't count, I do that voluntarily and it's once a week) I will lose my **** .

They're saying we're only supposed to do work for the class we're in at the time, so like.. we can't work on English homework or something while we're in a math class. And in English we have this semester long assignment called Supplemental Reading for which we have to read a certain amount of pages by the end of the semester. So the teachers say that TECHNICALLY reading when you're not in an English class counts as working on work for another class. So they don't allow us to do it. Really dumb rule, I know. But that's just how my stupid school is.

my public school in Connecticut was the same in almost every way except we could have some tank tops and we could wear yoga pants and tight pants. My brother got a detention for reading in class.
- we aren't allowed to have any form of water bottles in school
- no backpacks can be seen outside your locker during school hours
- no winter coats are allowed in class
-cannot leave the building at any point (even remaining on school ground) this includes a courtyard we are not allowed to use
-if you miss >15 minutes of a class 11 times or more you have to retake it.
-I'm not sure if this is at all public schools but the administration is allowed to search your car (on school grounds of course) for any reason
My school was very strict for a public school and its so liberal just having a conservative viewpoint that the teacher doesn't like could get you a talk with the principal and liberal propaganda was shoveled down our throat every god damn day.
User avatar #852 to #850 - Mynd (08/30/2014) [-]
We're allowed to have water at our school. Nothing but water though, and it has to be in a bottle with a lid. We're not allowed to have backpacks either, and we're not allowed to wear winter coats inside the building. We are allowed to leave the building though, to go to our cars (we have to ask the principal/vice principal/deputy and we have to be escorted out), and we're allowed to eat lunch outside. We do have a courtyard that we're not allowed in though, which is weird to me, cause it's right next to the courtyard that we eat lunch in, and it's shaded so it would be better. As far as I know they're not allowed to search our cars though, but we do have random locker/vehicle searches a few times a year where they bring a bunch of officers with K-9 units and they search the school and parking lot for drugs and weapons.

Oh, i was close though
I'm thinking there has to be some sort of correlation between the amount of minorities in a school district and how retarded the rules are.
Like if 90% is white, the rules are prison like
if 90% is mixed minority, the rules are reasonable
If there happens to be a lot of violence in that district the rules get prison like again.

But that's still a huge generalization.
User avatar #825 to #820 - Mynd (08/30/2014) [-]
I'm white, and my school is primarily white. But I went to a primarily black/Mexican school back in 6th and 7th grade. At my school, we have 1 deputy that patrols the school just to keep people out of trouble. At the other school, which is about the same size as my current school, there were about 5. And they really didn't do anything. They just were there for intimidation. And at the other school, the rules were MUCH stricter. We had all those rules I listed, and more. We had to tuck our shirts in and wear a belt, we couldn't wear jackets, we couldn't wear hats or big baggy pants. The mixed minority school was WAY more strict than my current school.
User avatar #831 to #825 - niggastolemyname ONLINE (08/30/2014) [-]

They just recently put signs up all over my campus saying NO WEAPONS ALLOWED

All I can think is who the **** did what and when, we're adults.

It's kind of obvious that we wouldn't bring a weapon to class... my money is that one of the high school kids who got expelled and is forced to attend class and/or summer school inside one of the wings of the college decided today would be a good day for show and tell
User avatar #420 to #194 - DroidToyiu (08/30/2014) [-]
I go to Virginia Tech and we actually don't have any signs anywhere on campus saying no weapons allowed. Considering what happened a while back it's very surprising. Although the fact there is so much security on campus now that it makes some third world countries jealous of our firepower probably nullifies the need for those signs.
User avatar #661 to #420 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
I just think it's kind of obvious no firearms or anything like that are allowed in public buildings

Why put up signs, my old high school didn't even have that many signs just a small one saying it was a gun and drug free campus

Besides the kids from the high school most of the time can barely read so it's rather pointless
User avatar #729 to #661 - DroidToyiu (08/30/2014) [-]
Yeah, my high school was on top of this large hill with only one way on or off. There was one sign at the bottom of the hill when I was a freshman saying "Drug and gun free zone". In my sophomore year this kid stabbed someone with a pair of scissors, so they added five or six "No weapon" signs and made it so we couldn't have scissors... It was very stupid.
User avatar #732 to #729 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
Somebody cracked this kid's skull in my old high school with an orange.

A ******* orange. Mind you this kid was a walking primate with mental problems, who was a quarterback on the football team because you don't need brain cells to play futbawl.

If a kid wants to hurt another kid he's going to use whatever is around him. As a kid I broke someone's fingers in a locker because he was bullying me. I was a **** person who believed fighting was the only way to survive.

**** like weapons such as guns and knives on campus is clearly a no-go and any adult knows that. But if a kid wants to hurt another kid he is going to find a way, so it definitely isn't fair to remove all of that item... we didn't lose oranges, for example, because one kid flung one with the force of a raging gorilla.
User avatar #735 to #732 - DroidToyiu (08/30/2014) [-]
My school was the kind where it's "If little Jimmy takes a **** on the floor, everyone loses bathroom privileges." That did actually happen. Kid **** on the floor in the bathroom, so they locked every bathroom in the school for the rest of the semester except the one in the teachers lounge.

One time I was stabbed with a pencil by this autistic 22 year old man child that was still in his junior year. The teacher at the time didn't say a thing simply because she was afraid of this kid. Instead she just sent me to the nurses office and told me to tell them I had stabbed myself. Seeing as how I wasn't about to be put on some kind of suicide watch I told them everything that happened. The school administration, being the top notch minds they are, banned pencils in that class. Just that class. Pens were okay though. So yes, we could no longer have plastic or wooden pencils. Mind you hard metal pens were perfectly fine.

Sometimes I think the autism in my school was an actual contractible disease passed down from the people who ran it.
User avatar #739 to #735 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
We used to laugh whenever they said no weapons at school because technically everything with an edge is a weapon

Fortunately my school wasn't that retarded, if a member of the Irish Gold club decides to go commit a homicide with a pencil its he who gets the padded room

In my school though there was some serious stupidity which probably came from the chemical and lead contaminated water

We had people who didn't even know Asia was a continent or that 5*5 was 25... and the smart kids always, always, always had to work with the dumbest of the dumb because our leadership were fans of communism (I had fun in one class taking an idea from a show called Daria and making them go on a communist witch hunt)
User avatar #741 to #739 - DroidToyiu (08/30/2014) [-]
I saw everything from juice box straws to action figures used as weapons throughout my schooling. Every time whatever it was would be banned for everyone. This one guy tried to capitalize on this idea by beating people up with textbooks. Sadly they were not banned.

My school was the exact same way though with the smart kids having to work with the dumbest. Unless you were in an AP class or Dual Enrollment class where there were entrance requirements there would always be 2-3 3.8+ GPA students per class of 1.0- students. It not only balanced out the class as far as the overall GPA goes so that the school wouldn't lose funding but they would also force us to stay long hours after school to tutor the tards under threat of ISS.

>tried to capitalize on this idea by beating people with textbooks
For the love of god I hope that kid went into law
In my AP classes there were dumb kids
I confronted the assistant principal on this and he pretty much told me straight to my face it was for the governmental funding having AP classes with high numbers gets schools
The dickhead was putting people with C- averages into my advanced classes and then telling the teacher to "just pass them with a D"
These kids weren't allowed to drop out of the class either so they just never went because they felt stupid and knew they couldn't handle the class. The GPA scam was also used, I found myself constantly in CP classes (general classes they at least kept the failing kids in, but they liked to put anyone with a D or higher in general classes into CP to keep the numbers of stupid kids way low) where the average IQ was lower than a chimp's.
I pretty much made the one kid I was forced to tutor cry that way I could select who I wanted to tutor from then on and was never approached. I got by only having to tutor about 5 kids, all of which were friends who wanted to do better so it didn't matter.
>tried to capitalize on this idea by beating people with textbooks

Close. He went to prison. So, law system I guess.

Our school wouldn't let anyone below a 3.5 go into an AP class, plus you had to do placement testing. Apparently in Va schools get more funding based on the GPA rather than amount of students.

I had one friend who was mentally handicapped I had no problem with helping and I really had no friends that needed tutoring beyond that. So I was always stuck with a bunch of redneck cousin ******* .

Out of my graduating class of 72 we had only 6 that were above a 3.8 (max being 4.8 because of AP), 10 that were above a 3.0. The rest were dish soap status.

Also all but one from my class graduated. At least, all the ones that were still there by the end of the year. The school had a habit of expelling people that wouldn't graduate, forcing mass amounts of extra credit or convincing them to drop out and get a GED.
User avatar #751 to #747 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
Honors classes also got kids who couldn't possibly pass, this assistant principal pretty much was trying to bilk the government and make the school look like it was "esteemed" when the majority of the kids had comparable intelligence to that of a dishcloth. About 40 kids from every class of up to 250 were 3.8 or higher, about 70-100 had average scores, the rest were all going to drop out and everyone knew it. My class of 245 kids only had 75 graduate. It was sad.
User avatar #743 to #739 - DroidToyiu (08/30/2014) [-]
Also I went to a really small school. 70 people in my graduating class and 300 total between 9-12th.
User avatar #752 to #743 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
Mine was rather large, 1-2k kids.

As I said only about 75 kids from a class of 245 graduated.

heres the deal, i live in a country school where 99% of the school is christian, cool beans, aithiest here and im highly tolerable of religion, i think its actually a good thing some people see hope in the afterlife. but that aside, our school has a senior mural wallway, seniors get a tile on the wall to express themselves. for as long as theyve done that, there has been crosses, bible verses, whatever, cool, whatever. my senior year, last year, a satanist put a pentagram, expressing who he was through appropriate means. there was no other references to anything else other than the equivalent of a christian cross on his tile. it stayed up for like 3 months a-okay, but towards the end of the year, they painted over it and banned any non-cross religious symbols on the wall. i dont condone satanism, or in that matter even christianity, but if youre going to allow one, ******* allow them all you ignorant son's of bitches

User avatar #201 to #33 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
That's.. illegal.

Schools cannot condone ANY religion in schools

Religious expression they can allow but not one religion only unless they're a private school

in the south mostly everyone is Christian, assume you are against the expression of religion, then try to take it up to the officials who are firm believers of that religion, you are not only gonna get a long arduous legal case going but also you are basically telling the majority of the school to stop expressing their religion because you are the 1% in the school
User avatar #662 to #405 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
They've done that before. Big legal case last year because there was a prayer mantle in the middle of school. That I think was a tad extreme but case in point.

I'm not saying remove all traces of religious expression from school, I'm saying that you should allow ALL forms of religious expression even if the majority is Christian

Or none. Don't even bother taking the case to higher ups in the area, go straight to the supreme court and the law will be upheld

Imagine the ********* had that been the star of david or the star and crescent. People would be fighting in the streets.

You'll get death threats for suing the school, but schools should not and cannot legally show preference for ANY religion and if there is to be religious expression in the school it has to be all-inclusive or not at all. And to be honest your point that it's the enemy of Christianity does make it a solid point to keep religion OUT of the school to keep the little buggers from murdering each other.
User avatar #697 to #662 - Anemophobia (08/30/2014) [-]
it wouldnt have been a ********* if it was a Star of David, dont know why you think there would be one
(Christians dont hate Jews, only thing they ever really complain about Jew related is business matters and small differences in their religion)
also the Christians could have even tried to build up a case to counter sue
User avatar #703 to #697 - elcreepo (08/30/2014) [-]
It might have been though, and counter suing doesn't work because there is a law saying no religion in schools unless it includes ALL religions.

There are a lot of racist people around here and down south that believe Jews are bad and a lot of hatred towards Muslims.

Plus, what if some kid at that school was Jewish and wanted to put up a star of david? **** would fly. You can't prevent someone from expressing their religion if someone else is allowed to express their own religion. It's illegal in the states and many other countries as well, the ONLY place religion is allowed (and where censoring another religion is okay) in schools are privately run schools.

This is because the school is an extension of the government which regulates and funds it and there is a law saying government cannot push any religion or be biased towards any religion. This lead to a lawsuit (I forget which, but it was quite some time ago) when one public school decided to say to some kid who wasn't Christian that they had to say morning prayers or they'd get expelled.

Should've done the upside-down cross, as it's technically a Christian symbol.
#407 to #33 - Anemophobia (08/30/2014) [-]
look at it from the point of view of the Christians, someone put a symbol of the exact opposite, the enemy of Christianity
also the opposing side also condones anything and everything evil
regardless of all of the negatives one could find in Christian beliefs, the majority of their beliefs are overall good things but the opposing belief is mostly whats considered evil ie: rape, murder, etc (at least thats what Christians believe)
Its kind of like Cold War Era, USA are Christians and Soviets are the boy who got the banhammer, he goes around waving the red Soviet flag in a school of Americans
(cant really explain it so well, this is one way to look at it)
#242 to #33 - anon (08/30/2014) [-]
I can kind of understand it, as a previous christian. I've never had anything against any other religions, but for some reason, Satanism is just.. it's hard to describe. It's the one thing I could never, and still can't, tolerate.

I've heard stupid stuff like that in random schools in the US. You just have to realize, most school districts in the US are essentially independent entities and can make up their own policies and rules as long as they don't break federal or state law. All it takes is a super-biased principle to cause stupid rules like this at schools.

I went to a school district with over 75000 students and there were never any stupid rules at any of the schools. Don't judge 30000+ schools by the 30 stupid ones you see in some reddit article.

And that's just the big/well known ones. The kind of things that schools do on their own are completely insane. I once had a teacher threaten disciplinary action for using my cellphone after classes had ended to call my dad and tell him I needed a ride since there was a ******* snowstorm outside.

We have a six inch rule at school where you aren't allowed within 6 inches of anybody of the opposite sex. My friend, who is gay, looked in the rulebook and it had nothing about two people of the same sex (its a ******* old boarding school from 1700 or so and the rules haven't changed) so he and his boyfriend would get with each other in front of teachers and when they tried to tell them off they quoted the rule book. When I was a sophomore in highschool (10th grade for people outside of the US), a senior was doing their senior prank on the 2nd to last day of school. He put blow uo dolls, dildos, butt plugs, and tons of other such sex toys in all of the womens' bathrooms at like 7AM. One of the janitors saw him go in with a large package, but when he left he didnt have it. They locked the school down for half of the day and then tried to charge him with terrorism. Funny **** .
