If you prepay you can be relatively poor and still stare off into the distance while your gas pumps.

Believe me or don't, but I added the text to that gif.

It has little value, but I enjoy seeing it spread all over the web. yes I've seen it multiple times on other sites

The government monitors your gas consumption and then sends a message to the gas pump, preventing you from purchasing more gas than you've consumed.

How Does A Gas Nozzle Know When To Shut Off?

You get a click when the gas/petrol reaches the tanks limit, and the pump shuts off. Don't know how it does, just does.

It's to do with a small air hole in the nossel of the pump. When the fuel covers the end of the nossel (eg the tank is full), a vacum is created and this stops the pump.

As a New Yorker, i would go to Football/Soccer/Concerts held in Jersey, fill my tank with $40 that gets pumped for me instead of the usual $55 and then laugh all the way to the border.

people closesly monitor the how much they'll have to pay for their gas because usually they only have a limited amount of money to spend and don't want to go over that limit.
