It was more that sound you hear when you are playing Wii Golf and the ball rolls by the hole.

>Grew up in the arctic
>During the summer there were endless days of the sun
>During the winter endless darkness
>Polar bears always raided the town during the winter for garbage if they were hungry
>My father and I went to go visit grandpa
>Hear a loud thud by the front door
>We thought it was drunks, hear a ******* grunt
>Grandpa, dad and my uncles dash to the door as a ******* polar bear tries to get in
>All their force on the door so the bear can't get in
>Hear a ******* gun shot from the neighbors
>Bear runs off into the darkness

The people in town just shoot to warn the bears or warn other people there is bears in town. I remember once there was at least 6 in town. Always during the winter dark season. I continue to have nightmares about polar bears in the arctic.

So how would you tell which side is East and which is West?
User avatar #9 to #1 - wardd (04/28/2014) [-]
the point where the sun is at its lowest is west, except if you're standing exactly on top of the north pole. Then the sun just stays at the same altitude and there is no west or east
#11 to #1 - moonmeander (04/28/2014) [-]
You are getting close enough to the north pole that east is basically just a circle on the ground with a direction of rotation, east is counter clockwise, west clockwise The circle could be many kilometers across depending on how close you are to the pole

It's like that in Scotland some summers. You get maybe an hour of darkness in mid summer. Nightmare trying to sleep.
