disney has released....what 5 or so instant classic movies in the past 5 years???

they literally have something for everybody from age groups of 1 year old to 100 year olds. they have merchandise from movies to comic books to video games. they make money just by existing.

disney is an empire that is never going to fall.
#58 to #30 - anon (01/12/2016) [-]
That makes me wonder what it would be like if Disney ever did fall... That would be weird.
User avatar #59 to #58 - angelious ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
its in their contracts that they have signed with the likes of pixar that the brand that is "disney" will never fall.

and for disney to actually fall from grace would need something revolutionizing to happen...they have their fingers in too many soups to be disposed off easily.

Pixar =/= Disney
User avatar #81 to #80 - angelious ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
collaboration. there is a reason why most disney films say " disney pixar presents"

and as i mentioned below. the deal disney made with pixar specially had a line in it that states (approximately) that "disney as a brand would never vanish from movie industry"

Didn't people say something like that for the Roman Empire and Soviet Union?
User avatar #64 to #63 - angelious ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
both of those are not even nearly as big and aloof as disney is. not to mention the thought that goverments of that time could survive forever is a fairytale. specially when it comes down to soviet russia.

I think to milk their money's worth. I felt that the pace of this last season was rushed, despite that the episodes are takin forever to air. I mean I get WHY they're rushed, I just wish they could have had like 2 more episodes to flesh things out.

I'm sorry, but Disney Channel Original movies are all ***** .
They waste too much time trying to make the next big thing since High School Musical, so they end up with material that can make a disturbing Cringe Comp.

They should just look for people interested in making kids films, and listen to pitches for new original ideas rather than updating old stories with twists that meet this generations fetishes for Jailbait Mouseketeers.
User avatar #88 to #31 - thundergyra ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
Jesus ******* Christ. Continuing the ****** tradition of making stories about the ****** kids of previously existing characters, they made it even worse by adding ****** colored haircuts and douchebag older male character as the obvious love interest of the one with the ****** purple hair. It spits in the face of the old movies and I probably don't need any more information to know this is going to be complete garbage that will rehash the thousand-times-rehashed Generic Disney Live Action Showâ„¢ wherein a group of highschoolers have a ****** secret to hide, all to a ****** laughtrack. Unless it's a movie, then it'll be accompanied by ****** "deep" emotional background music. The entire company can bomb and die. It disrespects the old films, doesn't bring anything to the table, and generally I think everyone's lives would be better off if they didn't watch it. This is modern television. Canned laughter or paid audiences for **** jokes, awful or nonexistent action sequences typically replaced by garbage romantic subplots, and in general cliches so old they need a ******* LifeAlert.

Disney is pepsi. Now We will have only 3d. But- I think this new zootopia look brilliant. I was against 3d. but since "Tanglet" I have changed my mind. They do great job. Because these characters are Good equivalent of cartoon ones.
User avatar #96 to #90 - bemmo (22 hours ago) [-]
That's a real shame about their 2D department, but Disney as a whole is about as far from Pepsi as a human construct is able to get without being shot into space to orbit the sun.

The original comment is right, but it has nothing to do with money. To many media companies make tons of money selling crap. When they use to put a lot of effort into making a quality product. Instead of doing the whole animation with the computer, I want to see more computer aided animation. Where a lot of it is hand drawn, but the computes are used to make the process easier.

On another note. I have not yet seen Star War yet, but I'm going to guess they put in the time and effort to do a quality Job. You don't screw with Star Wars.
#36 to #25 - anon (01/12/2016) [-]
It's...well, it's good, but it's not great. It's certainly better than the prequels at the very least but let me put it this way: if you've seen Episode 4, you've seen Episode 7. To be fair, JJ Abrams knew that he couldn't afford to **** up, lest everyone call him Jar Jar Abrams for the rest of his life if he failed, so he decided to play it safe and basically rehashed Episode 4.
User avatar #42 to #36 - guitarassassin ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
Funny thing is that's exactly why a lot of people call him Jar Jar Abrams now.
#45 to #36 - anon (01/12/2016) [-]
I liked the prequels more than VII. Both Dooku and Maul were better villains than Kylo Ren and Maul accomplished that by just not sounding like an angsty brat throwing tantrums the entire movie. Even Little Anny was a better character than desert Katniss and scared black guy.

All of the twists and what have you are obvious in the moment. Like, you see the scene and the music and it's pretty clear what twist will happen.

honestly, this is why I liked episode 7 and don't blame JJ Abrams for re-using the plot from episode 4.

I have when people don't understand change. So what they'll never do the classics again? why not let the classics stay classics? Let them be preserved by their own nostalgic ability. Who says we need more of it? What if they bring back Micky and make it ****** ? Then you'd be mad
User avatar #87 to #70 - wertologist ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
It's not about remaking them. It's about making movies in the same style. Most Disney movies now are for cheap laughs. Only when they team with Pixar do their movies drift away from cheap laughter. I wish they would make some new ones in the style of the old that don't have forced jokes.
#86 - dtanobo ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
Maybe it's having Marvel making them billions
or maybe having Frozen make billions
or Cars making billions
or Pixar making them more billions

Disney know what they are doing. They have money coming from left right and centre. They own some of the highest earning properties around. They have a theme park that's flooded with tourists.

Disney Villains "It's Our House Now" Music Video
The likes of House of Mouse along with the cartoon series versions of things like Tarzan, Aladdin, Hercules etc was definitely when Disney hit its peak IMO. Their shows could comfortably do cameos with each other with characters you really cared about and grew up with, the animations were A++ and even when they were kind of samey like Aladdin is to Hercules, they still felt distinctive and unique.

Maybe it's largely nostalgia talking but that was a golden age for TV. There's still some good stuff, but a lot of it's hideously buried under the latest generation of shows with quirky highschoolers that have carbon copies of every personality in Drake & Josh, this time with some new gimmick (the family's got a genie, one of them's a witch, somebody's from the distant future etc,) recycling the same old jokes every episode
