Actually very much yes. Recently at the UN, there was a vote on should the Cuban embargo end. All nations expect for two supported it. The two that opposed it was the United States and Israel.

I wasn't born in Israel nor do I or have I lived there, but my family does and my parents have/

My mom's side of the family are in Ashdod. They lived in the north before that (I don't remember the city) and my Dad's from Ramat Gan.

I used to visit almost every summer and go everywhere, I haven't been there in 3 years.

Because it's easy to make a life for yourself in the U.S. if you've already built its foundation elsewhere, which from what I hear is a lot harder in the U.S. due to the sheer difficulty of breaking free from the class you were born in. Besides, American companies import a lot of their high-tier employees from other countries specifically for this reason, same with universities recruiting future graduates.
User avatar #107 to #98 - infinitereaper (11/12/2013) [-]

User avatar #372 to #371 - biggydy (11/12/2013) [-]
I think that if a country is in trouble, it shouldn't be asking for help to other countries, unless they're really ****** up, because then you'll have lots of debts and you would be in trouble again later.
User avatar #373 to #372 - casval (11/12/2013) [-]
I tend to agree. If there is a legitimate threat going on that is causing a lot of suffering for thousands of people, like the situation with the North Korean prison camps, I'm fine with my country helping to overthrow tyrannical countries like that because **** those guys anyway. That's the only reason I'm in favor of the US backing South Korea, because the North IS so royally ****** up.

But if people aren't being mistreated and it's just two bickering countries, I think it should be left to them to figure it out. I feel like getting America involved with any war just completely upsets the balance of power. We do have the greatest military strength (not trying to sound like a prick, just stating a fact). Any country that is unfortunate enough to get involved with us in war is just completely and often irreparably screwed up, and tbh, it's just not a fair fight at that point.

I remember being told that I was moving to the US when I was 11, I was very excited to see what it was like there, but a lot of people told me that Americans were very selfish, and rude, I was pretty sad about hearing that. When I arrived in America, the people there were surprisingly very kind, my dads new boss took us to dinner. 2 weeks later when I started going to school, the kids at my school were talking about how much American's were selfish and all that **** . all I could think of was how you Americans are weird you call your self selfish and rude, but your actually very nice people.

As a Canadian who lives in south-western Ontario, whenever I go down to the States, I find a lot of people are very polite. To be fair, I got o Michigan a couple times a year, and people there seem to live a very southern culture, so I guess the manners come with that.
User avatar #263 to #109 - vivapinatapro (11/12/2013) [-]
You seem confused. Michigan is considered more of a Northern or Midwest culture. Southern would be Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Northern Florida, etc. When people think Michigan, they think Detroit and Ann Harbor, not Tuscaloosa and Gainsville.
User avatar #376 to #263 - richardastley ONLINE (11/12/2013) [-]
I'm aware that Michigan is not a part of the south, but when I hear people's accents when I'm in Michigan, I hear southern style accents, and compared to say New York or Ohio, Michigan seems to appreciate things like rodeo or stock car racing quite a bit.
User avatar #378 to #376 - vivapinatapro (11/12/2013) [-]
Ehhh. I know I am arguing for no reason. But when I hear people from Michigan (my fiancee and her family of from Kalamazoo) I definitely hear the northern in their accent. I am from Kentucky, which is considered Appalachian/Southern. And I'd say Michigan is more like New York than Ohio is. Not that it matters. Just my opinion I guess.
User avatar #380 to #378 - richardastley ONLINE (11/13/2013) [-]
To be fair, you would know better. I don't know Michigan natives as well as you do. I'm just judging from a Canadian perspective.

Not sure if you're being serious but this is just one problem that people might have with America. The self centered attitude. People in their own countries don't sit around pining over CNN or FOX. Granted, we do hear a lot about the celebrities but maybe that's because America might be represented as a bit of a celebrity itself if countries were to have some form of anthropomorphism.

But maybe it's the anthropomorphic quality that the world looks at America as its younger sibling. Whenever a younger sibling shouts out about some achievement, it's only natural for an older sibling to give the younger one some abuse, i.e. other countries.
User avatar #214 to #213 - leightonsolomon (11/12/2013) [-]
