The electoral college is a nice way of telling you it's rigged and your vote is meaningless.
User avatar #24 to #22 - helltard (10/16/2013) [-]
no, you vote is not meaningless and people who think it is lack basic reason
if it were rigged that would mean that someone affects the election other than by voting once, and it is easily repeatable, which it very obviously isnt

You really don't understand how voting actually works, do you? Look up the electoral collage and actually find out how the system pans out, and how a person who gets the 'popular vote' can get screwed out of office by the collage.

why dont you explain it to me? cause im not sure you even read the comments, i know exactly what gerrymandering is, how you require 270 votes to win election. if you really dont think i know aabout how "a person who gets the popular vote can get screwed out of office by the college" then you very obviously didnt read my comment about how you can win the presidency with 27.1% of the population.
please read before responding

You don't know what the electoral college is then, do you? A group of people look at the number of votes and then decide who THEY want as president. And their votes are counted, not ours.

Bush got a second term, even though people were pissed at him. Same with Obama.
User avatar #32 to #30 - helltard (10/16/2013) [-]
yes but we know exactly how many people voted for bush and obama. im not defending the college, its absolutely ******* stupid, but in the case of obama he won a plurality not just 270 votes in the college. for ***** sake congress has an approval rating of around 10% and we re elect them for some reason, just because someone doesnt have a high approval rating does not mean they cannot win a plurality

doesnt everyone always say that bush got "elected" a second term?

if you count a broken election system (the electoral college) as a rigged election then you could say it is true
the thing is he did not win a plurality in the 2004 election but he did win the most electoral college votes which is what is required to win.
fun fact - the electoral college allows for you to win the presidency with 27.1%(?) of the the populations votes, even if only one candidate gets the votes of the rest of the country
