It is just saying that the book that she is describing as her favorite is actually Aladdin. The way she describes it matches sup with Aladdin with the setting, action, spells, and what not. Then it shows how Jasmine meets her Prince Charming early on but won't realize it till later on in the story. Whether this is true or not is up to debate.

Okay, we already have Pixar/Disney cameo comp in the past year or so. How about the traditional animated film? Is there any more cameo or reference in those film? There's got to be more.

As a kid I always thought it was her own story because it has all those elements and would be quite the foreshadowing.

At the parks they say Belle's favourite story is Sleeping Beauty.
Guess they both fit the description though.

I always thought it was about Sleeping Beauty, since he actually goes by 'Prince Charming' in the fairy tales and they do meet briefly before she discovers he's royalty. Because he does disguise himself so he can relax from all the royal hullabaloo.

I know, Disney named him Philip for some reason, but like I said already, the fairy tales Disney adapted just called him "Prince Charming."

isn't aladin based off of something that would have been an actual book around that time?

I wonder how many other Disney princess movies do this?

I mean most of them were based on books, Aladdin as well. They could do this all the time if they wanted to.
