In South Africa, 2009, an employee of an IT
company complained about the slow
speed of data transmission on ADSL. And
said that data would get transferred faster
by carrier pigeon.
To highlight just how slow the broadband
internet is, the company decided to test
They got a carrier pigeon called Winston,
strapped a GGB memory stick on it and let
it flew from Hzwiik to Durban.
Winston the pigeon took one hour and
eight minutes to carry the data across the
course, and it took another hour to
upload the data. During the same time, the
ADSL had sent just 4% of the data.
Yes, that was the time when a pigeon went
faster than your internet network.
