And the best part is that buying the spores is legal in most states.
Anybody here a grower? Tips? Tricks?
So far I've learned that Rye substrate is more useful and that hydration is key.
I'll take links to any helpful things on fungiculture and the like.

infinitereaper (05/14/2015) [-] A strain or two do. Truth is, fungi is extremely delicate. The hardest part isn't even preparing the proper substrate, it's making sure everything is sterile. Contamination will ruin everything in the mycelium stage. Inoculation seems the hardest, actually getting nice yields seems to be the second hardest. It's a very involved process, and I'm learning more and more about it. It's pretty exciting stuff, since I won't be able to grow for a few years I'll have plenty of time to study it. Can't wait though. Should be exciting.

infinitereaper (05/14/2015) [-] The general consensus is that grow kits suck. I mean think about it, if you do it yourself not only can you continue to manufacture more substrate you can endlessly propagate an infinite mushroom supply on your own. Which is what I'm going for.

DisgruntledTomato (05/14/2015) [-] Yeah, this is the easiest method by far infinitereaper. Pretty foolproof, you will have to dry them afterwards though. However, this isn't too difficult. The best method is as follows
- Fan dry, if you can put them next to a radiator and fan dry, all the better.
- After drying, seal in an airtight container with anhydrous calcuim sulphate on the bottom. Get a mesh to put the mushrooms on so they don't touch the dessicant.
- They need to be "cracker dry", meaning when you bend a stem they crack.

infinitereaper (05/14/2015) [-] When I got my first shrooms they came powdered in a vacuum sealed pack, which sounds perfect for long term storage, is anhydrous a good perservant or something? Another trick which I like is preserving dried shrooms in honey, but its not so easy to sell.

DisgruntledTomato (05/14/2015) [-] anhydrous calcium sulphate is a dessicant (drying agent), you'll want this for storage yes. Stops them rotting, if there is any water in the shrooms it is absorbed by the compound. It's not toxic but you want the mesh, just to stop getting in on your shrooms and ingesting them. It's not a controlled chemical, so you can just order it online. I think it's $20 for a pound.

I've been strapped for cash so I haven't been able to buy the equipment and I'd rather not get bit by a snake or shot at while shroom picking. I'm planning on going to this national preserve near me and hunt in the boar and deer droppings (I even found an Amanita Muscaria last go) and make a spore print, then make a syringe from the print to save some money. I also have a fairly decent sized compost patch mostly comprised of rabbit droppings and am hoping to inoculate some spores there to have an outdoor grow.

I'll review different teks and try to come up with a good bulk one, research equipment etc. I'm going for a controlled and productive indoor grow.

I don't want to dish out loads of money for it so I figured I could learn to grow it myself, spores are cheap enough and you can propagate endlessly if you know what you are doing. Might be a good way to make some extra cash too, but for now I just want more magic. Yeah, I'm digging through several resources I can find. Just figured it was worth asking. I've picked up a few tricks just by looking, but an experienced grower might know much better.

Seems too risky to sell and it might be good for my chronic pain, but I'm about to try Kratom and if that does the trick then I'm all set even though it'll cost me a bit. I do want to become really kickass at shroom cultivation though. Might be a nice way to make a little extra btc, cover loses, etc. It'll be a nice hobby at least. Since my body is so jacked up shrooms thus far are the only real pleasure I've come to know, transcendental. It taxes my body, but the experience is so amazing. It really is the flesh of god. I hope to become prolific at growing it.

Your plants can get up to a pound of bud each, and considering an ounce is (at good prices) $200, there is alot of money to be made there, the only problem is it's a lot of work, but then again growing anything to a high quality is, I would never attempt to sell pot without growing it because there is no money in that, but when you're your own supplier, theres where the money is. Also it's very low risk, everyone has a weed dealer, so the chances of getting caught are pretty slim. I've never heard about Kratom before though, and yeah man, shrooms are the way to go, a great natural trip that won't leave you feeling like **** , such as most acid now-a-days.
