A Texas minister set himself on fire
I've seen a few people share stuff like this
with comments like these
thinking it's an article about this guy
when it's really about Charles Moore,
who was a pretty fantastic dude. He was a minister in Texas who really wanted all people to be loved and treated equally. In the 1990s he went on a two week hunger strike in protest against discrimination of the LGBT community in the Methodist church. Moore helped organize the Texas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty. He served in slums all around the world. He believed the Bible was all about "radical inclusiveness" and spent his life trying to get others to stop being bigots and see that. All he wanted was for everyone to be treated with love and respect.
He set himself ablaze because he was ashamed of the racism prevalent in his hometown, and thought this was the only way he could get people to really acknowledge it.
It's a shame people are laughing and cheeering this man's death just because they mixed him up with some idiot. He was a really great guy, more people should know about him and why he did what he did.
Lol
