Claustrophobic? Ryan Reynolds plays a man who's trapped in a box for an hour and a half. Of course, there's more to it, if it's in this list.
The Wave (Die Welle)
Devastation rating: 7.5 / 10
The Wave is a German movie about a high school teacher's psychological experiment gone awry. It's one of those very few movies that takes a hypothetical situation, portrays real-life consequences, and leaves you terrified of the real power of the human psyche. Die Welle is based on the events of The Wave experiment at Elwood P. Cubberley Senior High School, Palo Alto, California, USA in 1967. Try to remember as you watch this movie, that the experiment only lasted 5 - 8 days.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
Devastation rating: 10 / 10
The holocaust is no place for children. The Boy in Striped Pajamas not only takes you to one of the darkest points in human history, but... it... actually I don't even have the words for this one. Watch it.
Donnie Darko
Devastation rating: 8 / 10
People still try to define Donnie Darko beyond the movie's genre. Whether the events are supernatural or through the eyes of a schizophrenic, there are a few scenes that can give you some trouble falling asleep.
The Man from Nowhere
Devastation rating: 7 / 10
If suspenseful rescue movies is your thing (Man on Fire, Taken), watch The Man from Nowhere. One of the most intense rescue movies I've ever seen with some unforgettable scenes not for the faint of heart.
Silenced (do-ga-ni)
Devastation rating: 9 / 10
A second Korean movie on this list which absolutely earns it's rank. Silenced grips you right from the opening scene with a small deaf child walking towards an incoming train. It's goes straight downhill from there. Oh, and it's based on a true story.
Requiem for a Dream
Devastation rating: 11 / 10
There's no way you're surprised about this unless you've never seen it. If you are about to see it for the first time, heed my warning... you'll need an adult.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. Years ago my school made us read the book. Then they made us watch the movie. So they broke our hearts twice. It's about this kid whose father is an SS officer or something and they move right next to a concentration camp. Then he befriends a Jewish boy in the camp, and in the end he gets the bright idea to disguise himself as one of the Jews and break into the camp so they can hang out. Then the both of them wind up in a gas chamber.
Hitler did some things wrong, you guys. Hitler did some things wrong.
Why did I click that spoiler? I was expecting a light-hearted jape, perhaps a tale about something else notable that occurred during your school year. What a terrible mistake to make.
You can use Hola Unblocker to fake your IP and access Netflix from other countries.
However, this is not helpful since OP doesn't say what country he's from
I remember that in high school, our math teacher put us requiem for a dream to watch the dangers of drugs. Almost all the girls cried and one of my best friends have to leave the class. I recommend it but at the same time I DON'T recommend it. have fun
My mum did that with me, only instead of Requiem, it was the scene from Pulp Fiction where she had to be resuscitated with the shot of adrenaline to the heart
shows you that it doesn't matter who, everyone can become what germans had been until 1945. (Yes this is again in germany but don't tell me this would not work everywhere else)
watched requiem for a dream a while ago. after watching it i actually felt kind of depressed. its an amazing movie but really only felt like watching it one time.
When I saw The Boy in the Striped Pajamas get a 10/10 this list really disappointed me. That movie is nothing more than a historical drama. The wave looks promising though.
