I have like 500 friends on Facebook.
So if I delete the ones I don't care about, I'd have about 50 whoppers.

Whoa! You are so cool and aloof. Still in high school, huh? Or are you a mental midget?

It's called a joke
#165 to #164 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
A joke normally implies HUMOR, not CYNICISM, you in-affable crybaby.
User avatar #168 to #165 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
Well it's gotten thumbs up, so apparently a lot of people think it's funny
#171 to #168 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
No, they don't think it's funny. They're simply angst-y teens who feel cynical—and oh, how superior—and they like to see this trait in other "people".

Writing cynical statements in retarded websites' comment sections gives the opposite impression of which you seek to convey: that it is you who hates the world, and not the world that hates you for being a little whiny bitch.

Have a nice day.

You're not a very good troll.
#173 to #172 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
That's your cop out? "You're not a very good troll"? I'm not trolling. I'm just trying to teach you something. Maybe next time you want to post something edgy and filled with contempt towards your fellow human Earth cohabitants, you'll remember me, shudder, close your laptop's lid and cry yourself to sleep.

Okay, that last part was trolling, but I'm sure you get the gist of my endeavors. Don't hate me, I swear to God, I seek your happiness and erudition.
User avatar #175 to #173 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
I looked at your profile, and nearly every comment you've ever made has been incredibly hateful. Either you hate this website and keep coming back or you're a troll.
#176 to #175 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
Okay, but still, using that as an argument against me is a cop out. It's called the ad hominem fallacy. Ring a bell?

If you really consider my point unsound, then you should argue against it, not its author. If you consider it good or fear your argumentative skills to be unable to live up to my standard, then go **** yourself with a ******* rake and don't comment back to me ever again.

I am, of course, always open to peaceful discussion on any topic imaginable; do not take my rudeness as an offense.
User avatar #177 to #176 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
But I know you're a troll, so I don't care to argue with you. You'd just continue to try to make me angry.

Just some tips:
Make your profile private, looking at your comments makes it pretty obvious you're trolling.
Don't act like I'm reacting more than I am. For example, when you called my a "Cry baby" even though I didn't act like a cry baby in any way.
Also, a good and simple way to piss people off is to just respond to people who said something factual and tell them they're wrong.
Also you're acting too arrogant. A little arrogance is good, but this is too much.

Better luck next time.
#178 to #177 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
But... I really wasn't trolling you. I know how to competently troll people, believe you me. This is actually my normal demeanor.

(I wouldn't call it arrogance, by the way. It's confidence.)

As I said before (I'm repeating here because you blatantly ignored me), I'd be ready to argue seriously if you had some arguments to back your point up (which you seemingly don't, as you haven't made one point during the whole "conversation").

Penultimately, I take as an offense that "Better luck next time". Was that supposed to be a sarcastic (the lowest form of wit) tone or a patronizing one?

All in all, I apologize for calling you names; your phlegm rather impresses me.

I really don't see how your first post was a joke though. A joke is not a cynical comment. And the fact that sixty-something people liked your arrogant and self-important comment, doesn't make it into a joke, but an external commentary on our teenage generation.
User avatar #179 to #178 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
There's a pretty fine line between arrogance and confidence, and you were certainly on the arrogance side. Confidence isn't insulting other people.

And I've already told you that I don't care to argue with you, because I think you'd just try to make me angry and ultimately I don't care all that much.

And the "Better luck next time" was patronizing.

The post was a joke because it isn't serious. I'm not saying there isn't a single person on my facebook friends list who isn't a friend of mine. It's mock cynicism.
#180 to #179 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
The only reason you don't want to argue is because you "don't care" (sure, sure...) and not because you know I'd only try to make you angry (I've said it thrice now, it's getting a little tiring).

Being patronizing is being arrogant, you hypocritical cunt.

Mock cynicism? Like... Being sarcastic (still the lowest form of wit) about your own cynicism? Who the **** do you think you're fooling?
User avatar #181 to #180 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
You seem to have a pretty low reading comprehension. I told you that acting too arrogant makes it obvious you're trolling. I didn't say that arrogance is bad under any circumstances. You're acting extremely arrogant so it's perfectly reasonable for me act arrogant back.

I've had to repeat myself about not wanting to argue with you because you keep asking for an argument. I've explained to you why. I can see from your profile you troll more often than not, and you've basically admitted to it. I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that you'd try to anger me during the argument. Admittedly, you have managed to rope me into a minor argument though.

It's a pretty big stretch to compare my comment to sarcasm. It's the same concept of saying something you don't mean, but it's hardly the same in any aspect other than that. You keep stating that "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit", and I guess I'd kind of agree with that, but often it's not supposed to be that humorous. Sarcasm is commonly used to put another down, or show a lack of respect for them and their views. It's usually not supposed to be funny. It's more of a form of insult than wit.
Plus it's not about "my cynicism", it's about cynicism in general. And the humor doesn't just come from that. The joke also has appeal due to the fact that many people will have a lot of "Friends" on facebook despite only knowing a very few of them.

Believe me, people didn't read my comment and think "HAHA, I DON'T HAVE FRIENDS EITHER!" than thumb it up. They found it funny. If you didn't find it funny at all then that's okay, humor is subjective.
#182 to #181 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
I disagree with you on that it makes it okay for you to act arrogant back AND call me out on doing so as well.

And, basically, with your joke, you attempted irony, but came out with sarcasm. You said nothing funny, clever, insightful, etc. on social medias, Facebook, or anything related to those things, instead you simply said "I have five hundred friends on Facebook that I don't care about." Seriously, there is no humor in that. If you don't see a difference between humor/wit and what you did in that post, then you simply don't see it and I'll have to leave it at that in that case.

Bravo for the simplistic "philosophical" stance "humor is subjective". Oh, really? You do know that a couple of very intelligent and erudite people would disagree with you completely and could argue their points also (something you seem to have a slight difficulty with), right?

And really, I'm not replying to that "no argument because of incentives" thing again. I've determined you either stupid or a liar, and, in the present situation, both reflect on you equally badly.

I'm pleased that you're trying to bring us both to an agreeable conclusion, but to get to that point you had to go fallacy over fallacy and over erroneous statement and etc... I couldn't simply let this fly.

P.S: I am sorry if I unexpectedly stop responding to your comments, I may have to go to bed soon.
User avatar #183 to #182 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
Are you even reading my posts anymore? You're just ignoring most of what I'm saying.

I didn't call you out for being arrogant, I said it's a bad thing to do when trolling because it clear you're trolling.

You're simplifying the joke then complaining that the simplified version isn't funny. I could take a joke such as
"Other men say they have trouble getting women's bras off, but my knife does wonderful"
and simplify it to "I RAPE PEOPLE."
That's basically what you just did.
And I didn't attempt to use any irony, thats why it isn't sarcasm.

Other people found it funny and you didn't. Pretty sure that right shows that humor is subjective. There are people out there who find certain comedians funnier than others do. Again, proof that humor is suggestive. If you have any way to argue against that than do, don't just state "Others would argue against you."

And why would I get into an argument with no incentive? That's just a waste of time. If I feel no reason to prove you wrong, or myself right, why argue? I don't get any form of pleasure or satisfaction out of it.

I haven't used any fallacies in my argument, but in that post alone you used 3 straw men (The part about hypocrisy, applying arguments against sarcasm to something that wasn't sarcasm, and rewording my joke into something completely different and then insulting it)
#184 to #183 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
So, you are saying that arrogance makes it painfully obvious that someone is a troll? Should I then assume that I am being trolled here? You see? Another simplification. Not used as a straw man (as you erroneously claimed about your joke), but to isolate the root of the problem. In short: if you don't want simplicity, don't use it (and your first post is nothing alike that (quite funny) rape joke you mentioned, it is simple, it has no humorous meaning whatsoever and states nothing but contempt). Please, record that I am stating these things in a purely structuralist manner.

You seem to have miscomprehended my point about sarcasm: I was being charitable. I thought you had at the least attempted humor and not just had made a cynical and complacent comment in an attempt to generate thumbs from angst-y teenagers. I guess I was wrong, sadly.

Finally, that third "fallacy": I did not reword your joke at all, I uttered its exact semantics in an indirect way.

Oh, and I will not reiterate every argument about taste and objectivity there is. Read David Hume if you are interested in this aged debate (of course, I do believe you are not. You are best suited for deadpan comedy sketches that discuss such important themes as prepubert alienation and juvenile contempt for authority).
User avatar #185 to #184 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (11/10/2013) [-]
I was saying that when you're trolling, arrogance makes it obvious. I did not say that all arrogance is trolling.
I'm starting to get the feeling English isn't your first language, but then again, I'm really doubting you have the patience to learn more than one language.

Just because I said I wasn't being ironic doesn't mean I was attempting humor. I was attempting humor, and the fact that 66 people voted it up shows that I apparently did pretty well.

You say that you think I would enjoy deadpan comedy sketches, and I'm guessing you wouldn't? Looks like you just agreed with me that humor is subjective.
#186 to #185 - pkrbarmoviea (11/10/2013) [-]
You're guessing I wouldn't and you jump to an immediate conclusion? Okay, there... Mental midget, as I supposed, I see.

Not my first language? I guess that was supposed to be some kind of a joke, but I feel the urge to point out every comment I made was more articulate and eloquent than any of yours.

I do know that humor comes in many forms, and none of them could begin to accommodate your poor excuse for a joke.

I'm starting to get the impression that you're not even in mid-puberty yet and that I'm wasting my precious time with one of the most feeble-minded individuals on this site.

Oh, well. Everyone makes mistakes, I guess. Yours was that joke. Oh, but you got some good ol' thumbs for it, didn't you? Wait... Those mean nothing in real life. Well, at least a truly intelligent person doesn't hate you because of all the stupid **** you said during a certain conversation and... Wait... He does. I do. **** you. (rhyme not intended)

Anyhow, I'm getting rather tired of these platitudes and dry champagne in my eyes makes me crave the sweet tactile feel of my warm and cozy bed. See you around.
