i have to pay a minimum of $750 a month for my student loans. at the rate im going right now, thats all i can do. i might have a better paying job becoming available soon but to put the loans in perspective, the total amount i would have paid at the end of the 10yrs with minimum payments only is about $90k.

Don't major in something that can't guarantee a good paying job afterwards. Doctors aren't to afraid nor engineers as they know they're paychecks and job opportunities will always have there back. not generalizing here, but don't major in liberal arts or communications, get loans, and complain later. again, i know its not always black and white but there are my two cents

Im playing black jack with a business/econ major. Wish me luck
User avatar #51 to #42 - comandante (10/27/2013) [-]
are you kidding? those are great majors, don't be discouraged, its just the job market after that. mae yourself attractive as possible with interships
User avatar #53 to #51 - lysandrex (10/28/2013) [-]
I just feel like the supply of econ/business majors is too damn high lol, which is why I said I'm playing black jack by pursuing that major. It's not as demanded in the job market like med/engineers, but not hopeless like some other majors. Just gotta network well while I'm in school

Aero-Mechanical Engineering here. There can be no sexier degree title.

This sounds cool. Damn...I wish my Uni had a study plan about building planes and rockets.

The best I can learn here are cars and trains.
User avatar #50 to #49 - cheatmasterjunk (10/27/2013) [-]
I don't get into planey rockety stuff for another couple years, but there's a club at my uni that's basically a bunch of nerds with access to rockets and **** , and it's legit enough that they can get funding from the university for it \o/

so don't pursue something you love because you can't make any money off of it? i guess social workers and teachers and any other underpaid and overworked professions are just stupid.
User avatar #52 to #19 - comandante (10/27/2013) [-]
I get what you're saying. if you truly love those jobs, then go after them. just understand what you're getting into and plan accordingly. my sister knew the job market when she majored in sociology, took her 10 years to get a job in her field. she didn't bitch, she just kept going. teachers in america suck, only a handful in each highschool deserve to be paid like kings as they do amazing work. due to teachers unions, no one can get fired, and ****** teachers, and mediocrity live on. "oh, but its the students fault they aren't good at math and science, they should be more disciplined" have kids and then tell me that the first thing on their mind is solving a quadratic equation No, they love fun and fart jokes. i had bad math teachers, but my mom always said i could get through it, and look at me now majoring in engineering science. As i mentioned before, a degree means nothing to some employers. they don't want educated eggs, even though thats what they are told.

I'm a Mexican from lower class, and I don't even know my parents.
Wouldn't it anger you if I DID get one?
User avatar #11 to #10 - doktorschnabel (10/27/2013) [-]
Why would it anger me? It's quite unlikely that you're in the same state as me, let alone looking at the school I'm going to, so we wouldn't be competing for the scholarship. I'm also already three years in, it's pretty late for me to get many anyway.

best of luck.
