I signed up for Slader last year to get help with math homework. But this year, my math teacher doesn't even use the textbooks and just gives us worksheets all the time.

Math is incredibly difficult for some people, and it involves far more than you claim it does. If it was so easy, everybody would be a mathematician.
#34 to #32 - hassoutobi (11/14/2015) [-]
1-No?? just because somethin is easy doesn't mean you'll want to work wih it

2-Math may be hard sometimes but bruh we didn't become rational beings through evolution to whine about subjects being challening did we? Everything's possible bruh you just need patience and determination.
User avatar #36 to #34 - derpthefifth (11/14/2015) [-]
Technically we became rational beings through evolution to survive. I fail to see how the **** my survival depends on calculus and i will whine about that fact as much as i damn well please. I don't like having to learn things i've got no goddamn use for thank you very much.
#60 to #36 - migueldecervantes (11/15/2015) [-]
We owe more of our mind's evolution to cultural things such as art, music and storytelling than to math and science.

But the fact that math and the sciences are important parts of our cultivation should not be denied, either.
#39 to #36 - hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-]
1-BRUH' we developed calculuss to better understand the laws of the universe and live better so math is also a goddamn tool to guarantee our survival as a species on earth.
2-Bruh'' you're very narrow minded. I bet my ass you love/loved some subjects but they have no use in your life now yet you still like them so...we don't learn things just because we want to make use of them (however we do learn math to make use of it, as in a tool to understand how our world works and how things happen in a comphrerensible way ), we learn them because we like them as well as well as just for the sake of aquiring knowledge because learning about the universe, the world we live and about ourselves is the most important and best thing we can do on our lives and you can't deny that no matter how hard you whine.
3-As I've said a **** ton of times before already, math is ******* important. And like it or not you won't get your way out of it by being a little bitch who whines about it being too hard. Actually nothing good in life is obtainable by being a little bitch, so you better man the **** up and work that algebra instead of being an ''WHY DOES SCHOOL TEACH US SO MUCH BS OMG GUYZZ WHATS THE POINT OF X SUBJECT WHY DONT THEY JUST TEACH US NOTHING HAHAHAHA AM I RIGHT XXDDXD'' type of angsty teenager/young adult(rarely) on the internet.

4- **** you, math is my ******* life.
User avatar #40 to #39 - derpthefifth (11/15/2015) [-]
God damn take it down a peg or three.
You calmed the **** down yet? You ready to stop calling me "bruh"?
Listen, i wasn't saying in any way that math is unimportant, it's great man and good for you for studying it. I know that it is, in the grand scheme of things, very important. Hell, as they say, math is the language of the universe! Although with that said it isn't personally important to me, i don't like it, i stopped being good at it after basic algebra, and i resent being forced to learn it in preparation for a carrier in which i will almost never need to use it.

TL;DR- You do you and i'll do me.
#47 to #40 - anon (11/15/2015) [-]
Bruh...
#43 to #40 - hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-]
**** , that sounded weird.
#42 to #40 - hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-]
1-No I didn't. I'm never calm.

2-Even though you won't use it it'S STILL IMPORTANT because it develops your brain and helps you think faster and utlize logic/reason more easily. My old Chemistry Teacher, for example, had to work with a ******** of calculus and he admited he didn't use any of it to this day however he's a ******* god at teaching because he's just too good at using logic and reason to explain chemistry to even the most stupid high school kids ( Bear in my I live in Brazil so our definition of stupid is far beyond yours ). Seriously, alright you might not like math but learning it WILL help you in your future because while you migh not enjoy it is, along with reading and discusing things in general, the way your brain works out and develops itself. Also just because you're not good at it doesn't mean you should start whining about i and want to never learn it ever again. Actually it's the countrary. My father also teaches chemistry and he ******* HATED History/Geography yet he knows so much nowadays he could probably teach those subjects straight out of his head to at least high school kids. Why? because instead of giving up on them he focused on studying them more than other subjects to guarantee that he wouldn't fail his classes because of his resent for them. Instead of avoiding his weakness he worked to remove it from his life. You should do that to.

TL;DR Study math, or I'll do you.
User avatar #44 to #42 - derpthefifth (11/15/2015) [-]
Math isn't the answer to everything. Ofcourse i said i was required to learn it so i'm damn well going to learn it, but i'm going to bitch about it the whole way because that's part of my process.
Also if i catch you tryin to do me we're gonna have a problem man...
#46 to #44 - hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-]
Alright, good enough.

Also, about the ''doing'' part, I just got over excited and kinda typed without thinking, hahahah that's so akward, sorry...

Nah, I'm not that advanced in terms of faggotry. I do try to come up with actual funny stuff once in a while, and most of the times I just can't help but start mindlessly arguing with people. I only admit I'm purposedly being a cunt, and actually focus on being one when I feel a bit mad in real life so I take it out on the internet because I can't express how I feel without feeling retarded IRL. It's sad...but funny.

Correction:

Math is easy if you have a good teacher.

So many kids complain that math is difficult because their teachers are horrible - usually recycles English teachers who don't even understand the course material they were handed to teach the math class.

10th Grade. Veteran Math teacher. Knew and understood all the course material, and had digested it into four or five short lessons per day, each divided into ~5-10 steps.

Each day, we sat down, and he booted up the projector and went through his lesson, going back and explaining if there were questions. He only *asked* that we copy it verbatim... not a requirement. Then, when that was done, he gave us the homework, which was directly related to the material he just taught, and we were free to work on it until the end of the period, and come up and ask him questions. No 'projects'.

Every 2 weeks, we'd have a 20-minute silent review quiz on what we learned, and every ~6 weeks, we'd have a ~1-hour big-test on the entire past section.

I still remember ~70+% of what I was taught that year, and still have my notes. Class was harmonious and happy. No complaints. Even the stoners averaged B's. Everyone respected this teacher.

11th - Woman teacher. Less organized. Retained 1/5th of the material I learned in 10th. Lots of pointless 'projects'... tri-fold, gingerbread-houses and such.

12th.... Complete ********* . I learned nothing, the entire class was failing with sub-60% scores on tests. 12-grade teacher got chewed out by administration for it.
#62 to #61 - hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-]
You know what? That part is true, but it also comes down to your dedication to learning math. You may havete best teacher in the world but if you don't wanna learn then you won't learn.

#65 to #62 - swagbot (11/15/2015) [-]
Sure, that's part of it, but consider this addition to my story above:

In those miserable 11th and 12th-grade experiences i had, i stayed up often until 12-2 AM trying to grind through the material and teach myself the Calc and Pre-Calc stuff those two idiot women failed to teach me during class... It made me miserable, and i still had no idea what i was looking at come test day.

'Good Teaching' is weighted more strongly than 'motivation'. Remember what i said about the stoners in 10th-grade - once taught clearly, they began to enjoy the material.

People blame the kids too much nowadays - who's raising them? Who's feeding them soda and doughnuts before school? Who built / staffs these boring schools? The adults.

Kids have a natural baseline desire to learn things.

Even many/most college students (IMO) want to learn.

I have observed for years that the bigger problem is poor teachers.
#69 to #65 - hassoutobi (11/15/2015) [-]
Damn, nice arguments. It's just that I'm from Brazil, and really, we do have a lot of good teachers, it's just that the kids/teens are really the problem here, so I thought lack of interest/dedication could be a problem out there in the US as well.

Science is the worst thing about humanity. It is worse than war and all diseases. We think we are helping ourselves with our precious science that scientists worship so much, but we're actually just giving our beautiful children doses of autism in their vaccines.
